Critical, Analytical, and Integrative Thinking

I have spent the last four years practicing LRCs. The ultimate test was

at Field Training. While I was there we had to do a particularly difficult

challenge. The LRC is pictured above this paper. Cadets had been attempting

the challenge all day with little to no success. Soon enough my group was

standing in front of the LRC and my Captain assigned me as the group

leader.

After analyzing my equipment, I came up with a plan. I thought outside

of the box and had my cadets take off their belts and use them to fasten the

barrels together. I knew in the past that cadets had been falling in the water

after trying to use the barrels as a raft. This time however the belts would

stabilize the raft. My plan worked! We were the first group to successfully

cross at Field Training.

Because of my critical and analytical thinking, my group received a

high score and praise from the Field Training Commander himself! This is why

this moment clearly represents my understanding of the College Learning

Goal.

My Second piece of evidence is the data analysis and interpretation

project. The project inspired quite a bit of thinking. Such as what type of data

are we going to collect. How do we interpret this data? What are creative
ways to collect the data? All of these were thought processes that we had to

critically think through to achieve our goal.
