The AREVA P132 P139 XRIO converter can be used as a stand-alone converter or in association with a
relay specific test template, for example with the OMICRON Feeder Protection template for the AREVA
P132 P139 relays.
In any way the converter is used, follow the quick start instructions and create your test by using
LinkToXRIO or start using the relay specific test template (for more information, see the test template
documentation).

4 Required software version

To use this converter, you must have a valid license for the OMICRON Test Universe 2.30 software or
higher.

5 Functional range
The AREVA P132 P139 XRIO converter implements the following functions:
DTOC (definite time overcurrent)
IDMT1 (inverse time overcurrent)
IDMT2 (inverse time overcurrent)
SCDD (short circuit direction determination)
THERM (thermal overload protection)
I2> (unbalance protection)

These functions use the RIO interface of the Test Universe software. Consequently, the test modules are
configured automatically.

6 Not supported functions

The following functions are currently not supported:
SOTF (switch on to fault)
ARC (auto-reclosure)
TGFD (transient ground fault detection)
GFDSS (ground fault direction determination using steady state values)
MP (motor protection)
V<> (under and overvoltage)
f<> (under and overfrequency)
P<> (power directional protection)

8 Converter structure
The converter is divided into two sections: the AREVA P132 P139 section and the RIO section. Both
sections consist of several function blocks.

8.1 AREVA P132 P139 section

8.1.1 Relay Parameter Section

Setting parameters of the supported functions are included in this block. The parameters are grouped and
named as in the AREVA MiCOM S1 Studio Version 3.1.1 software. Each parameter in this block can be
identified by its Foreign ID, which is identical to the parameter name in the software.

Figure 2: Setting the parameters in the Relay Parameter Section

8.1.2 Additional Information

This block has been added for relay specific parameters such as tolerances which cannot be set by the
user, because they are constant values. All values set in this block can be found in the chapter "Technical
Data" of the relay's documentation. Typically, these blocks do not have to be changed (except the
General Information, Circuit Breaker Information), as they are already set to the values given in the user
manual of the relay.

Figure 3: Setting general information

The parameters contained in the General Information block are linked to the device part of the RIO
section and are available in the test report.

8.1.3 RIOPlus (Advanced view)

The RIOplus block acts as an interface between the relay and system data and the test modules. The
block is needed for the RIO parameter conversion or to link the RIOplus parameters directly to the test
modules (e.g. State Sequencer or Ramping). The RIOplus section is divided into different sub-blocks,
which include either relay information or which are built especially for a certain protection function. The
sub-blocks for these protection functions include all the data for testing the respective functions.

8.1.4 Template Controller (Advanced view)

The Template Controller block contains special values which are needed for some tests, especially for
tests using LinkToXRIO. These are mainly calculated values which cannot be calculated by using
LinkToXRIO and therefore have to be stored in this section. Other values needed for customer designed
tests can be stored in this block.

8.2 RIO
The RIO section of the converter contains all specialized RIO functions which are needed to use the more
specialized test modules (like Overcurrent) provided by the OMICRON Test Universe software.

Warning: Do not change any values in this section. The values have been set using the relay settings of
the Relay Parameter Section.

Note: Do not enter the input mask of the RIO-Functions. Changing parameters in this view could disable
formulas in the RIO section.

The AREVA P132 P139 converter constructs the overcurrent characteristic curve out of the setting values
in the Relay Parameter Section which allows using the test modules listed above for testing the relay
functions.

8.2.1 Dir IP CT/Dir IN CT

These RIO distance blocks provide data on CT star point grounding for modules like Quick CMC, State
Sequencer or Ramping.
Note: If the star point grounding is set different for phase CTs and for the neural CT it is require to adapt
the connection (e.g. swapping neutral CT connection) for correct polarization in self-made tests.

8.2.2 Overcurrent forward/reverse (Phase and Residual IN calculated)

This RIO overcurrent block provides data for testing the overcurrent protection functions of the P132 P139
relay with the Test Universe Overcurrent test module. The protection functions supported by this RIO
function include:
Phase overcurrent (IDMT1,IDMT2,DTOC)
Residual overcurrent IN calculated (IDMT1,IDMT2,DTOC)
Elements of these functions are sorted to forward and reverse directions according to settings form the
SCDD block. These functions are grouped in one block as they use the same CT star point grounding
setting.

8.2.3 Negative sequence overcurrent

This RIO overcurrent provides data for testing the negative sequence overcurrent protection elements of
the P132 P139 relay with the Test Universe Overcurrent test module. The protection functions supported
by this RIO function include:
DTOC,
IDMT1,
IDMT2.

8.2.4 Residual overcurrent forward/reverse (Phase and Residual IN measured)

This RIO overcurrent block provides data for testing the residual overcurrent protection elements of the
P132 P139 relay with the Test Universe Overcurrent test module. All functions in this block use the IN CT
input and its grounding type.
Elements of these functions are sorted to forward and reverse directions according to settings form the
SCDD block. These functions are grouped in one block as they use the same CT star point grounding
setting.

8.2.5 Therm /Therm warning

These RIO blocks provide data for testing the following testing of the warning and tripping stages of the
thermal overload protection with the Test Universe Overcurrent test module.

8.3 Activating the RIO functions

The RIO functions have to be set to active manually in each Overcurrent test module if the converter is
used in the stand-alone mode. Activate the corresponding RIO function you intend to use in the local test
object as shown bellow.

Figure 4: Activating a RIO function

8.4 Specific Features

This section deals with special requirements of some of the converter functions. Functions not listed here
have no known limitations to their functionalities.

8.4.1 Not-Supported IDMT curves

The converter doesnt support the Operating curves type IDG.

8.4.2 IDMT1 /IDMT2/DTOC

For the successful phase overcurrent testing with the P132 P139 converter, it is allowed to set only one
stage as IDMT in each direction. The other stages should be set to DT. The IDMT stage must have the
lowest pickup value!

8.4.3 I2>
This function is not completely supported by the converter. The settings are present and also the RIO
function Unbalance protection is prepared. But the I2> elements are not sorted together with the
negative sequence elements of the DTOC or IDMT functions.

9 Relay Settings Import

Relay settings can be imported in .txt format (S&R 103 print file). Select the Filter for AREVA S-R 103 .txt
Settings and open the settings file to import the relay settings into the XRIO Converter.
