Dear Parents,

My name is Angela Natrasevschi, and I am your childs art teacher. I am from Fort
Collins, Colorado and I am passionate about art and education. I am a new teacher and I
am so excited to be working with the students of this school. I am excited for this
upcoming school year and I would like to share my expectations with you. My classroom
is a place of support where students feel like they can be confident in taking risks, posing
and solving problems, experimenting with materials, and getting involved in art no matter
what experience level they have or perceive. I also believe that communication with
students and parents is crucial to a safe and supportive classroom. To resolve any issues
before they develop through open lines of communication. I am here to listen and work
through any concerns you may have about your student, why a grade was received, or
anything you need to communicate with me about. Below I have included my school
number and email address should you need to contact me. My class is weighted into 3
categories. Projects are work 50% of the grade and all late work receives half credit and
can be accepted no later that 1 week after the original due date. Performance and
Attendance is 25% of the grade. Students will receive 10 daily performance points for
being on time, prepared with all supplies, and ready to work form bell to bell each day.
An excused tardy and excused absence will still receive performance points. An
unexcused tardy and unexcused absence will result in a loss of the 10 daily performance
points. Your student can come before or after school to make up points lost due to
unexcused tardies, 30 minutes of this will recover one tardy of 10 points. Sketchbooks,
homework, critiques, and tests will be 25% of your students grade. I will send a syllabus
with more detailed layout of the course with your child on the first day of class. My
hopes for your student are that they can be inspired, passionate, and successful through
the creative processes I support in my class. I welcome you to contact me with any
further questions.

Sincerely,
Angela Natrasevschi

Grading: Your grade is determined through three weighted categories:

Projects are 50% of your grade:

all late work receives half credit and can be accepted no later that 1 week after the

Performance and attendance is 25% of your grade:

Sketchbook, Homework, Critiques, and Tests are 25% of your grade:
Sketchbook:
Students are required to have a sketchbook for each art class. Use these sketchbooks for
notes, sketches, homework, project information, journaling, doodles, art experiments,
collaging, drawings, etc.
Homework:
Most homework is to be completed in your sketchbook. Occasionally you will need to
work on your projects outside of class.

These occur at the end of each major assignment. Critiques are a vital process to art
