    a ESL Research and History


    Artifact 2

    My coursework in ELL instruction has kept me up to date on research and proven

    strategies in language instruction. Because I have taken classes with instructors who have done

    amazing research in the field, I have been able to transform my pedagogy to include proven, best

    practices for ELLs

    The attached artifact is a reflection on one of my own lessons. In that reflection, I

    evaluate my inclusion on each of the Six Standards of Effective Pedagogy. These paradigm

    shifting standards assure that I am meeting the needs of my students, promoting social and

    academic language development, and challenging them through rigorous content.

    Completing this program has allowed me to see that I need to stay up to date on current

    ENL strategies, and how the educational field may change as we move from No Child Left

    Behind to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Thankfully, ESSA is has many more

    requirements for servicing ELLs and I this program has equipped me to meet and exceed those

    increased expectations.
