Now that weve read this article about Rosa Parks I want
you to turn and talk to the person next to you. With your
partner, I want you to talk about how Rosa Parks was
brave and what she did to stand up to injustice. Can
someone tell me what injustice means? Thats right
injustice is when something is not fair or wrong. Im
hearing some great conversations. Now I want you to
talk with your partners about how you would have acted
if you were Rosa Parks? Would you have done the same
thing on the bus, or what would you have done
differently? Would anyone like to share what they talked
about with their partners.

Now that weve gotten to know Rosa Parks better youre

going to do an activity that will help you get to know
your classmates a little better too. Displays Were the
Same, Yet Different worksheet using the doc cam. In the

answers for each category. For example, under eye color
I would write brown because I have brown eyes. Take 2
minutes to fill out column 1. When youre done give me a
thumb up so I know youre ready. Great job! Now when I
say go I want to talk to the people around you and find
people that have the same answers as you under column
1 and write their name under the 2nd column Teacher
models this step. Then under column 3 write down the
name of someone who has a different answer under
column 1 than you do. Teacher models this on doc cam.
You may get up and move around to quietly talk to your
classmates. When youre done come have a seat back
on the carpet. Ill give you about 5 minutes, go! After
students finish their worksheet they will meet back on
the carpet. Students will share some of the similarities
and differences and then they will return to their seats.
