CHARLOTTE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL

MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONSTITUTION

PREAMBLE
We the members of Charlotte Country Day Model United Nations, determined to engage
in competition within the sphere of diplomacy, to establish an organization that exemplifies
a strong work ethic, to appreciate the value of intellectual debate, and to look to the legacies
left by those who came before us in order to create a path of our own, have resolved to
uphold this constitution and amass our greatest resources, time, and efforts to reach these
aims and venture beyond.

ARTICLE I Officers
SECTION I
Club officers shall always consist of a President, Vice President, and Parliamentarian. This
group of officers is to be known as the Exec. The President is to serve as both the
spokesperson for the club and the chief administrator while the Vice President is to assist in
matters of administration and fill in for the president as spokesperson when necessary. The
Parliamentarians responsibility is to administrate membership, prepare members to use
parliamentary procedure, and maintain The Compendium.
SECTION II
Elections must be held prior to the deadline set by the Upper School. Those wishing to
become club officers must declare their candidacy by turning in a petition with the
signatures of twenty five percent of members to the advisors. Club officers shall be
instituted by a simple majority vote of all members present on the floor of the election
meeting. The voting session shall be held without interference from other clubs or
non-members, with an impartial senior presiding and at least one club advisor observing.
SECTION III
The President, Vice President, and Parliamentarian are responsible for club
communications.
SECTION IV
In the event that any officer acts in a way that negatively represents the club and/or the
school, fifty percent of club members must sign a petition to call for an impeachment vote,
in which a two thirds vote of all members shall be needed to remove said officer from their
position.
SECTION V
In cases where Upper School Policy is violated, the Club Advisors or Upper School Office
reserve the right to remove officers.
SECTION VI
In the event that any officer of the club leaves their position for any reason, a special
election will be held within two weeks of the position being vacated. Between the position
being vacated and the special election, an appointed member shall fill the position as an
interim officer. In the event of the President leaving, the Vice President will automatically
fill in for the President until the special election.

ARTICLE II Membership
SECTION I
Any and all Charlotte Country Day Upper School students wishing to join MUN shall be
considered candidates, who shall receive communications but not possess the abilities of
members, until they have attended a series of three consecutive meetings. Once the officers
agree that said candidates be inducted members, they shall be granted voting rights and the
ability to attend conferences, both of which they did not have as candidates. In
circumstances in which prospective member(s) are personally recruited by a club officer,
their membership may be expedited by a two thirds majority of the Exec.
SECTION II
If a member misses two mandatory meetings without a proper excuse, defined as a
commitment which is communicated to the Exec at least 24 hours before the meeting, they
may be considered for probation at the discretion of the Exec. The third mandatory meeting
missed without a proper excuse will cause the member to be considered by the Exec for
removal. The meeting count shall restart every academic year.
SECTION III
Disrespectful or disruptive behavior, as well as negative representation of the club in the
school or community, will result in consideration for probation or removal, at the discretion
of the Exec.
SECTION IV
Probation constitutes the suspension of the ability to vote, run for a position, and attend
conferences. Removal of a member means they will no longer be allowed to participate in
MUN for the remainder of the school year, but they may rejoin the following school year.
Probation shall be lifted at such a time that the Exec has determined that the member has
demonstrated an unquestionable commitment to the club.
SECTION V
A complete record of all members specific activity within MUN, to be known as The
Compendium, shall be established and maintained by the Parliamentarian for use as a
reference and may be edited by other members of the Exec.
SECTION VI
All meetings announced at least one week ahead of time are assumed to be mandatory
unless stated otherwise in an email.

ARTICLE III Activities

SECTION I
The Exec may at any time give a member an appointed post, by a two thirds majority vote,
for the purpose of doing specific tasks within the club. Appointed posts powers will be
determined when they are finalized. For each conference, there shall be an appointed
leadership post known as the Head Delegate. Likewise, for each Club Activity which is not a
conference, there shall be an appointed leadership post known as the Principal Member.
Any appointed post may be taken away with a two thirds majority vote of the Exec.
SECTION II
Model United Nations shall orchestrate Club Activities other than conferences when agreed
to by a two thirds majority vote of the Exec.

ARTICLE VI Amendments
SECTION I

We the members of Charlotte Country Day Model United Nations, in the spirit of progress,
provide consent for this document be amended by a two thirds vote by all members present
at a meeting called at least five days in advance on a single amendment or multiple
packaged amendments called to a vote by the President.
