Room on the Broom

1. What do you believe is the moral of this story, its main lesson/main point? Why so? In my
opinion, I believe the moral of the story is to accept any individual for the person that they are
and to not pass judgement on their lifestyle. In Room on the Broom, the cat did not want any
other animals to embark on his and the Witchs journey, meanwhile the Witch did not let that
prevent her from allowing all the different animals join in on their adventure. By the end of
Room on the Broom, the Cat, Dog, Bird, and Frog put aside their differences and let their
differences bring them together in a time of crisis to save the Witch from the terrifying Dragon.

2. The cat is the individual who has all he wishes and appreciates little about it; the dog has
nothing and still finds happiness and joy in his life; the bird is the outsider born into a
lonely life only because he is so different; the frog is the misunderstood aspirant who wants
a whole different way of life from his peers. So, which one is you? Which one of these four
do you most closely identify with, and why? Reflecting on the video, I would say that I am
most like the Frog who wants to be different from his peers. In my opinion, it is boring to be like
everyone else and I think that being different is something special that most people would find
unconventional, therefore I strive to be different and chase goals that most wouldnt dream of
chasing. In the video, the Frog displayed how being different shouldnt be something that
individuals are scared of; being different should be something individuals should embrace.

3. When was the last time you shared, willingly, with another person, without expectation
of compensation or recognition? You may only count sharing because you were able to and
it was the right and just thing to do. Tell me about. Havent in a long time? Tell me why
not, or tell me about a missed chance to do so. The most recent time I was able to share
something with another individual was just a few days ago. I was in Tennessee, Knoxville
attending the University of Tennessee spring football game, and due to weather conditions, they
had to end the game at half time. With the unreasonable weather conditions and the number of
vendors planning on selling all their food, the cancelled game turned out to be a great game in
terms of receiving free pizza. As I was exiting the stadium with the 13 extended family members
also attending the game, Papa Johns was standing at the bottom of the concourse. Being the
pizza lover that I am, I quickly ran up and patiently waited until I received three free 8 pizzas.
As I continued to exit the stadium I noticed that there were some individuals that missed out on
the free pizza, so I decided to share my pizzas and indulge with some fellow Tennessee football
fans.
4. If sharing isnt your thing, when was the last time someone else was kind to you, either
by sharing, or showing you true kindness, an act which you might not have recognized at
that moment, or maybe you did but, no matter, it was a kindness. Tell me about it. And,
did you thank the person? Why or why not? The last time I was fortunate enough to be on the
receiving end of a kind act was about a week ago when a former high school sports marketing
teacher suggested that I apply for a training camp internship with the Carolina Panthers. Chris
Carroll, my former sports marketing teacher has been working with the Carolina Panthers for
over 10 years and thought that I would be a wonderful candidate for this position, therefore he
talked to several individuals within the organization and was able to arrange an interview. Within
a week of the interview, I received an email notifying me that I was one of the two individuals
fortunate enough to receive an internship position working for the Carolina Panthers. After I had
obtained the position, I was able to formally shake my former teachers hand and thank him in
person for the amazing opportunity he was able to arrange for me. I am very humbled by the
experience and am very grateful for the influence that Chris Carroll has had on my life in terms
of providing me with multiple opportunities to grow and excel in life.
