Standards Addressed:
Communication (From the ACTFL World Readiness Standards):
Interpersonal Communication: Learners interact and negotiate meaning in spoken, signed, or written
conversations to share information, reactions, feelings, and opinions.
Interpretive Communication: Learners understand, interpret, and analyze what is heard, read, or viewed
on a variety of topics.
Presentational Communication: Learners present information, concepts, and ideas to inform, explain,
persuade, and narrate on a variety of topics using appropriate media and adapting to various audiences of
listeners, readers, or viewers.
Overarching Objectives:
Students will be able to utilize current vocabulary and the imperfect verb tense to answer questions about
their life then they were younger
Communicative Tasks:
Interpersonal/Interpretive Communication: Students will ask each other Qu mascotas tenas? and complete
a chart based on the interpreted meaning
Interpersonal Communication: Students will answer another students question regarding the pets they had
as a child based on their own personal experience
Presentational Communication: Students will present their completed bar graph to the class
Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to ask each other what pets they had when they were younger
Students will be able to properly respond to inquiries regarding the pets they did or did not have when they
were younger
Students will be able to aggregate data in a table based on their answers in Spanish
Students will be able to graphically represent the pets that their group had when they were younger
Performance Outcomes:
Students will create a bar graph representing the pets that their group had when they were younger
Presentational Communication: Students will present their final bar graph to the class in the target language
