The main character of class denotes that the vessel with machinery and equipment has been found to be in compliance
With basic Rule requirements for assignment of class in Det Norske Ventas, The following notations are used
AZ - Vessel for which periodical surveys are stipulated in relation to special (main) periocical survey intervals of 5 years,
1A2 - Steel vessel of specal design, or light alloy vessel (e.9. high speed light craft) assigned class prior to 1.1.1985, for
whieh periodical surveys are stipulated In relation to special (main) peredical survey Intervals of 3 years.
= Old conventional steel vessels for which, by reason of their general condition, It Is considered necessary to stipulate
shorter special periodical survey intervals,

RO, Ra, R2, R3, R4 oF RE - Vessel with certain modifications to arrangement, equipment or scantlings in relation to
vessels normally duit for winter weather conditions in the North Atlantic. The service srea restrictions given in nautical
miles and representing the maximum distance from nearest harbour or safe anchorage all given in the table Delaw. The
restrictions are relsted to the zones, areas and seasonal periods as defined in the Intemational Convention on Load
Lines, see the DNV Rules for Classification of Ships, PL} Ch.5
