Church Saturday 12th November 7:30pm Mirinesse Singers Notes from the Director
Songs from I chose to programme a concert
including African music because the
Near and Far choir had spent a lot of time working on
different tonal colours for Adiemus and it felt like a natural step. I taught in Africa after I left university and I have Siyahamba South Africa always loved the sound world of the a Senwa Dedende Ghana capella music from that continent. It has Thuma Mina KwaZulu Natal been great introducing the choir to many of these pieces and working, not La Jesucita Mexico only on their music, but also on how to perform these songs stylistically. The Juanita Spain addition of folk music from other Malalech Walker-Hyde countries adds variety to tonight's entertainment, with some well-known A Keelie Ghana melodies and some new pieces.
