Outdoor Living Skills

My outdoor adventure experiences began in December of 2013 when I went on my

first overnight backpacking trip. Since then, I have gone on many more overnight trips,
several three-day trips (one personal, two for outdoor skill classes), a four-day trip (also
class), and Montreat Colleges 21-day Discovery expedition, which included two days of
climbing and six of canoeing (split between flat and whitewater) but mostly focused on
backpacking. I have led my completely novice family on a short overnight within the
Montreat cove, and also helped to lead a canoeing and camping week-long trip to Florida as
part of the Expedition Management class. In addition, I took an introductory course on
whitewater canoeing and have spent nine days canoeing on rivers and springs in Florida. I
have also taken an introductory course on rock climbing. I have taught lessons on Leave No
Trace ethics, self-care, and map & compass. In addition, I spent six weeks during the
summer of 2016 living in a large tent at a campground while completing my internship.
