Mr.

Chris Maher May

4, 2017

Superintendent

Providence Public School District

797 Westminster Street

Providence, RI, 02903

Dear Mr. Maher,

I was pleased to hear of an opening in the Providence Public Schools

District for an elementary teaching position. I am an EC-6 Generalist

Elementary teacher with 4 years of experience as an undergraduate student

at the University of Texas at El Paso. I have observed and worked with

students from Pre-K to 6th grade and have learned so much throughout these

4 years. I am familiar with your school district and have researched your

district and know that your mission is preparing students to succeed in

colleges and universities, which I stand by. I am familiar with and stand by

your core values of Respect, Equity, Excellence, Accountability, and

Appreciation for our diversity. These values are essential and applicable in

my everyday life and should be for our students, as well as students across

the nation.
I am from El Paso, Texas and have had a passion for teaching since I

can remember. Although I am from the opposite end of the country, there are

similarities between El Paso and Providence. I noticed that many of the

positions available are for ESL teachers and that is something I am familiar

with. There are many Hispanic and ELL students in both areas and I have had

lots of experience with these students. I am Hispanic myself and have lived

in a border city all my life. I have been around ELL students all my life and

have taught them for years. I am not certified as Bilingual Generalist, only

Generalist, but I do understand Spanish and would be able to work well with

these students. I have done countless hours of observations in elementary

classrooms from special education to inclusive and regular education

settings and have performed exceptionally well in the classroom setting. I

am comfortable with all ages and am a very organized and dedicated

individual with hopes and aspirations to be an educator and role model to my

students. I also come from a family of teachers where I have learned many

strategies and techniques that would benefit my work in the classroom.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am so honored to even be

considered for this position. I would love to work with your students and be a

part of the Providence Public Schools family. You can contact me at

bfrivas@miners.utep.edu or by phone at (915)701-9158. I look forward to

speaking with you. Thank you again!

Sincerely,

X
