Asset management part 2

Fill/Eye Dropper The fill/eye dropper is a tool for PhotoShop. This

is where it will detect any eyes that are red due
to camera problems (common with
older cameras) and it will fix the
problem and render the red out of
the eye can changing it with the
actual eye colour, the image to the
right is an icon of the fill/eye dropper
tool.
Shape Shapes are one of the tools within PhotoShop,
this is a multiple selection where different shapes
Can be accessed, these
can be made in ANY size
and any colour
(depending on the bot
depth), this image to the
right is the selection of
shapes available on
PhotoShop.

Line The line tool is one of the shapes available on

PhotoShop this is just one of the 6 total shapes
that can be accessed on PhotoShop. The line tool
can be used in any thickness, any length and any
colour, this can also be changed in opacity as a
lower opacity will make objects/other images
behind it visible, this is good if a smoke layer is
needed, this can also be for shading or adding an
extra layer to the image. The image below is of
the line tool in the
shape drop down
on the tool bar on
PhotoShop.
Stroke Stroke is the action with brushes, a paint brush
stroke is where the brush is dragged along the
canvas, with the newer
selection of brushes on
the current PhotoShop
there are a lot of different
stroke settings to choose
from, these give you more
choice for different
brushes. The image to the
right is of the brush tools.

Zoom Zoom refers to the tool that allows you to zoom

in and out of the
canvas, the ability to
zoom in and out
is useful when you
have to work on
a small section of
an image e.g.
blending, I used this
a lot when I was
removing items
from the images
that I worked
with, an example
of this was when I
removed plane trails from the sky by patching
and blending the sky together. The image to the
right had big plane trails directly in the middle
going to the right of the image, after I edited it
there arent any trails.

Guides and rulers On PhotoShop there are rulers and guides set to
help with measuring out the canvas size and
assets and where to position the assets as I am
working from a brief and a story board I created
this came in handy to position the assets I said I
would have in the images, the image to the right
is of the ruler tool and of the guide tool, these
show the icons that are used to bring up the
rulers and grids/guide lines.
Layers The layers are for separate assets, these are also
made for layering the project by having certain
assets above the other ones and other assets in
the background, an example of this is when I edit
this image (the poster) I am going to have the
sky in the bottom layer, then the giant spider,
then the trees and field, then above it all the title
Isolation and the cover lines and other
information on the game. The image below
shows the one layer I currently have.

History Actions The history tool is the tool that reverts all
sections of the image it toches back to the
original state before any editing occurred, this is
good for when you make too many mistakes and
cannot undo them all, ar if you
want to edit something heavily
(e.g. a face) then select one half
and remove the editing to show
the difference. The image to the
right is for the history brush tool.

Arranging Arranging assets on PhotoShop can be as simple

as having multiple layers created and named and
order in the right way ready to just paste and
arange the assets In the
correct place, this is
instead of making each
layer as it is need like I
am going this
assignment, I have
arranged all of my
folders for this ENITIRE
year to make it very
easy to find all of my
graphics, the image to
the right is thefolder set up I have for all of the
assets I used this assignment.
Colour Selection Colour selection refers to the quick select tool as
the quick select tool will select a colour it is
clicked on and then select al other shades of the
same colour surrounding it, an example of this is
when I quick selected
the sky and the
entire sky was
selected as it is all
blue. (Image of sky
quick slect below).
The sky was too pale
to be selected below,
this is why it was not
selected.

Lasso The lasso tool will allow you to trace the shape of
the select out, this is similar to the quick select
tool however it allows you to trace the are that
you want to select, I will use this and the zoom
tool to trace around the trees better in oder to
split up the player when making the posters. The
image of the trees being selcted with the lasso
tool is below.
Marquee tool The marquee tool is used in the coding of the
other tools, this allows you to click and drag the
mouse in oder to scale
the size of the image,
this is implamented in
all of the shapes of
PhotoShop in oder to
allow the ability to
change and alter
shapes, the image below
is of the shape section.

Magic wand The magic wand tool selects certain

sections of the image depending on
where the image is clicked, this is just
another variation of the quick select
tool. The icon for this is to the right.

Copy/Paste The copy/paste asset is failry self explanitory,

you can copy assets to and from PhotoShop, the
tool for this is both in the Edit drop down and on
the hot keys (copy hot key is Control + C and
paste is Control + V). Copying content will enable
the content to be pasted, this is like quick saving
the
image
as I
copy
then
being
able to paste it either in or out of PhotoShop
either as a screen shot, an image, text or other
content, the image to the right is a copy/paste
tool in the Edit section.

Transform/Scale/R Transform/scale/rotate is the ability on PhotoShop

otate to transform the image with gradients, colour
aspects and lots of other editing tools, scaling is
creating the correct size canvas/image to suit the
task the image was created for, an example of
this is a banner ad for a website, if the aspect
ratio is not followed then it will be streached out
or cropped to fit the size of the asset then the
pixels will either be streached too much and
pixelate the image or the image will be cropped
so much it wont be visible.
The image below is the height and width which is
ALL about scaling the canvas which in turn scales
the entire image.
Rotate is very self explanitory as the rotate tool
simply rotates the image 90 degree, staring on
its side, then upside down then its other side
then back
to the
start. The
image to
the right is of the scale tool.

Crop tool The crop tool is also very simple as it crops the
image, this tool is used to crop the entire canvas
down, this is in-case there is a border around the
image or you can crop the image, screen shot the
image and revert the screen shot (undo the
screen shot) an example of this is here as when
explaining cropping you can crop the image down
as shown on the right.
The image to the right
shows the crop tool,
after cropped the
image I screen
shotted and un-
cropped it as I am not
using the crop tool on
the assignment.

Undo Undo is a VERY simple tool, basically if I do

something wrong on PhotoShop I can undo it on
either the Edit drop down or on the hot key for
undo which is Control + Z which undoes an
mistakes. I will be using this feature whenever I
need it, the image to the right is of the undo
section in the Edit drop down.
Fill The fill tool is used to fill up a big section all at
once with the same colour. This section is very
short as it is just a quick explanation of the tool, I
am not going to use this tool in my assignment
as I am trying to create realistic graphics and the
fill tool is vey un-realitic.
Advanced tools N/A In this assignment I am not going to use any
advanced tools, the tools I am using are listed
and explaned above, the olny tool I am using that
isnt specified above is the burn tool that
basically just makes the image slightly darker to
blend in shadows.
