The author of the essay that was written is called Guess Who Else is Reading
Those Facebook Entries? is written by Eddie R. Cole Jr. As far as I can tell, while
reading his essay he shows that his main purpose is mainly focused on Facebook and if
Facebook or Myspace pages. Also on how social media specifically Facebook has many
problems, issues, and solutions. Then, on how Facebook can be a great source to find out
information and many more other things that people have and do on a daily or monthly
basis. In this article that was written by Cole shows pathos with is shown by his
State University. I think he mainly focused on a University is, because many young adults
who attend any school are trying to create their future and look for the right job, but are
prevented or given any opportunity from getting a job because of their reputation on
social media sites particularly on Facebook. The author was responding to and for
teachers, professors, and business owners thoughts regarding social media and if their
personal life on social media should affect hiring decisions in a professional setting.
While writing one would notice that the author doesnt have a job position, but is

mainly stating what many peoples thoughts are weather it is good or bad. Just stating
what thoughts, and what the general society has on social media today. The writing
doesnt have a right or wrong answer, but is explaining how people find out information
on one another by just searching up a name. This helps the audience understand to be
more cautious of what they post online weather it is personal or business matter, because
everything in some way gets judged no matter what or by whomever. The main point is
short and simple it is to be aware at all times, to be safe and think everything through.
The essential claims are that business officials hire employees based on their background
what they read and what they see on media sites. The evidence the author claims is how
head officials of universities are mentioning how every college student posts private
information, race, relation, and many more things. If people like to make theyre account
private there is a privacy setting, but some chose to leave their account open for the world
to see what is the importance of their life and people try to find a way to embarrass those
people with publics accounts. The way it was supported was by a study being done by
professors checking students pages for a reference instead of just looking at a resume or
explains and experiments with people and what they think on the subject. Someone
mentioned that Facebook is a place where some people post when they go out to parties
or events not just daily lives. Then others just look through the site as a bad effect on the
world and on young adults trying to start a life. I agree, because I think social media
plays a big role on the world today. Social media is used to start businesses,
advertisement, and once something is posted online you cant remove it.
No, I do not doubt any of the claims, because the internet or social media has

gone out of hand. The author made assumptions and claims, but had people supporting
his statements. Some conclusions that stood out to me as problematic was the story and
everything about it and how technology is taking over the world and all minds of the 21st
century.
I myself did not see any issues with the structure, organization, tone or word
choice. It was in perfect essay structure, also had view points and thoughts supporting his
context. I think the tone and word choice gives a calm point, but also angry and
My views on this subject is being very concerned for our future students and children
being way to obsessed on what is being shown, posted, or put online. Also trying to
isolate themselves from the world and socializing just by looking at their phones. People
spend too much time posting things on Facebook or just on the web just to impress
people who dont need to be fascinated. This connects to what the author wrote, because
he explains how many people lose opportunities because of their reputation presented on
a social media.
