I have encountered two tactics used by Jamaican managers in order to frustrate and
depress individuals who they want to resign from their positions, or to give up on a
project which the given employee wants to start, which the manager does not agree with
but for whatever reason is afraid to make his or her opposition known. The first approach
is to have the given employee writing one and the same report over and over, for as long
as it takes to get the employee to either give up on the project and or resign from his or
her position. The second approach is to have the employee work on the project as normal
but when it is near completion, the manager hand over the project to another employee
who will either sit on the project (kill it) or complete it and claim recognition. A third
approach is to take the project away from the employee from inception and hand it over
to another employee, while the initial employee turns up at work every day without being
assigned anything to do, in the end frustration and de -motivation takes its toll.
J'ai rencontr deux tactiques utilises par les gestionnaires jamacains afin de frustrer et
de dprimer les individus qu'ils veulent dmissionner de leurs postes ou d'abandonner un
projet que l'employ dsir veut commencer, dont le grant n'est pas d'accord mais pour
quelque chose La raison a peur de faire connaitre son opposition. La premire approche
consiste faire en sorte que l'employ donn crive un mme rapport plusieurs reprises,
aussi longtemps qu'il soit ncessaire pour que l'employ renonce au projet ou
dmissionne de son poste. La deuxime approche consiste faire en sorte que l'employ
travaille sur le projet comme d'habitude, mais lorsqu'il est presque termin, le
gestionnaire remet le projet un autre employ qui sera assis sur le projet (le tuer) ou le
complter et rclamer sa reconnaissance. Une troisime approche consiste retirer le
projet du salari de son dmarrage et le remettre un autre employ, tandis que
l'employ initial se prsente au travail tous les jours sans qu'on lui ait assign quoi que ce
soit faire, en fin de compte, la frustration et la dmotivation font appel .

An approach which has proven its worth in dealing with many of those directors, chair
persons and senior managers who are bent on giving technical and scientific professional
employee problems, is for the employee to use the full width and depth of his or her job
description. In other words, the offending director, chair person or senior manager must
never be without reports to read, even reports on those issues related to the job which no
one would ever dream of addressing. This might mean that the professional employee
might have to stay back after work to ensure that both the job which was assigned is
