Being an Organ Donor Should be Required of Everyone

Being an Organ Donor requires people to have the ability to give their organs to someone who

seriously needs them. People that are still alive and want to donate their organs would have to

donate something they can live without , such as a kidney or part of the liver. These are called

vital-organs. Some who are licensed to donate and have died or are going to die can give up

what that patient needs. Our society is in need of people to step up and become organ donors. This

can increasingly help people in critical need of a transplant. Organ donation should be required by

everyone and anyone over the age of 18, only because you can make your own decisions at that

age. No child under the age of 18 should consider giving up their organs, even though people can

get a driver's license that says it at the age of 16.

Increasing the legal restriction on sale of purchasing organs can save many of lives because when

organs are priced highly then it can decrease the amount of people who pay for their transplant.

Medical bills for transplants are costly. This supports the argument because when restrictions are

higher, than many more people who are in critical need of a transplant can afford it without

stressing over the cost. The sale of organs could increase the amount of lives being saved because

the cost of what organ they need fits their budget. In other cases people argue about the price of

organ transplants, while others are getting them for free. There are differences between people,

people who have higher standards and can afford transplants with no problem versus people who

are poor and cant afford them. The process of selling organs is getting to be difficult in some
Martino 1

cases, a lot of people dont understand how hard it is to give up their loved ones organs.

Unfortunately being able to receive a transplant can be hard because of the lack of people not

wanting to donate or that arent licensed to be an organ donor. Our society has come to the point

where so few are regretting to be an organ donor on their driver's license. It can make a huge

difference in this society. Hospitals who have an organ supply from donors would encourage and

step up work rates for the workers because so many more people off the waiting list can finally get

that transplant. For people to get transplants, hospitals need to make that purchase so workers can

build up there working hours. I think hospitals should have no choice whether they regret to buy

organs, its a hospital for a reason being. No hospital should turn down the opportunity to accept

organ donations, they could get many patient who critically need transplants that are in their area

and more working rates.

Using animal organs could save thousands of lives. Animals can have a big impact on society if

they were apart of the organ donation process. Many animals have the right organs some humans

need to live, for example, a pig can donate its liver. Not all animals have the ability to donate, in

some cases they can tend to have rare diseases such as the Immunological Rejection and the

Zoonotic Infection (Barker) No one wants to catch a those disease from an animal's organ inside

you. Mostly farm-bred animals carry these two types of infection. People who are diagnosed with

Parkinson's Disease (Barker) can not have animal organs transplanted into them. I think using

animals for transplants can eventually save lives if that is the next choice up from a human organs.

Our society needs legislation (Barker) ,or else people are going to be negative towards being

organ donors. They monitor the state legislature for bills that would affect the protectors that

consumers have under law, and speak up on your behalf. (Funeral Consumer Alliance). This

society needs to make a change in which where we stand, we need to push for a stronger organ
Martino 1

donation legislation. That can only happen if people would become someone who wants to give

their organs up for use when they have passed away. The controversy between being an organ

donor and not is a problem and it needs to come to a conclusion. Religion needs to be a bigger part

in the organ donation world. Religious beliefs should be impacting the donation of organs. Blacks

and asians are needed to increase the thought of being an organ donor. Lack of different races are

not organ donors, mostly whites (Lynch).

Procedures to help perfect the process of transplanting porcine tissue needs to be successful.

Transplants of any organ or tissue should end up being triumphant. Effective procedures could

impact someone's life forever. We could diminish problems of deciding what brings harm to the

patient by prescribing clear and accurate consent. It is important to help decrease problems dealing

with what the patient's thoughts are about donating. Deluding the scary and horrific thoughts of

donating an organ can bring stress level up in the patient and possibly the patients loved ones.

Increasing the patients strength and ability to donate is prime factor and should be taken seriously.

All organ donors are scared to see where their donations end up. It's very possible for someone's

organs to be transplanted into a criminal, terrorist, or murderer, no one wants to save their lives.

An alcoholic could destroy his or her liver from consuming too much alcohol and most likely will

destroy the new one they have gotten from someone who wasn't a low life. Certain people don't

care for what they have, while others are in critical need to get a transplants. I think people like

that shouldn't get the reward of getting a transplant and ruining it. Some people are too selfish

nowadays and their needs to be a change in who the person is personally that it getting a transplant.

A few decades ago people made jokes that the divine(Delong) and extinguished human body

was worth $2.00 which was the value of its constituent chemicals. The human body is never going

to be worth as little as two dollars. It is an expensive figure that carries value in its own
Martino 1

perspective. The Transplant Technology (Delong) has set our bodies to be the most valuable

parts and will always be. In other cases , criminals, rapists, or child molesters bodies could

be worth less than what normal high standard bodies are . These kind of low life people should not

be treated equally to others with higher standards, some don't deserve to have a life because how

they choose to act. It all depends on their background check. In the year 1988, 25% of livers were

used and 66% were transported to other locations for use and any that were left over went to a

building of research and analysis. Livers and other organs can be transported to other hospitals and

centers for all around the world organ donation use. A decent amount of people are in critical

conditions and are calmly waiting. Soon these patients that are waiting will eventually die before

the proper organ becomes obtainable. Wasting organs is not an option to those who take this

process seriously like hospital workers for the ones family member,, those organs that were wasted

and thrown away could've saved someones life. Many organizations and centers discard organs

they dont need, while those organs could of been transferred to another place for usage. In 1996

about 261 hospitals all around have conducted around 20,000 crucial organ transplants, from the

kidney to the pancreas. Currently there are around 60,000 plus americans waiting for a transplant.

Every 60 minutes there are americans added to the waiting list to eventually get a transplant. That

means not everyone will get lucky and get one. The federal government has yet to make an attempt

to increase organ donation. During the years of 1989 and 1992 over 10,000 people have died

because of the waiting for their transplant. Every year the number of surgeries rise efficiently.

Trying to be confident while going through tough times with a family member during the

transplant can be rough. The doctor informs the family that the loved one will not recover any

basic functioning and will remain dependent upon all of these life-support systems in the future

(Poorman). Sometimes receiving a transplant can be risky and insecure, many things can
Martino 1

accidently go wrong. The only way to fix a problem like that is listen to the doctor and take all

precautions and make the patient feel like everything will be ok. At sometimes the family member

can make a better decision rather than the doctor performing the transplant. Another less dramatic

but frequent scenario occurs when the family member who is the self appointed decision maker

jumps into the breach to make or control the difficult choices (Poorman). Some families go

through withdrawal of extraordinary which means patients who are in need life support and are

close to death can't get an treatment. People need to realize that others need to be treated very

quickly because their lives are on the edge of being done with. Thousands of Americans are on the

edge of losing their life because they've been waiting for a transplant for too long. No one but

criminals shouldnt have to wait their life out to get a life saving material they need to live. Its no

first come first serve, if someone who doesnt have a criminal record is suppose to be in line after a

criminal then I think that person should skip the criminal and get what that patient needs. An

Organ Donor should be required to everyone and anyone over the age of 18 because people out

there who severely need transplants could live because of you. The problem in todays society is

that the patients can barely afford an organ transplant and because less people are not licensed to

be organ donors. I think being an organ donor is something everyone should take pride in doing

and should brag about it. Being an organ donor has some many qualities and its a good thing to

say you are one. Not everyone is licensed to be one but I think it is a great quality of your own.

One quality of being an organ donor is that you feel good afterwards and you saved someones

life. Creating a savior is a direct violation of the dignity of that person (Lahl).
