Determine whether UNIVERSAL, PARTICULAR OR SINGULAR

Note: When the proposition speaks of essences or nature of a term, it should be construed as
UNIVERSAL even without the necessary indicators (all, every, each and the like). Further, on
the one hand, what should be emphasized in PARTICULAR terms are the indeterminacy of
reference even though the proposition speaks of one object. Lastly, singular terms, on the
other hand, present such determinacy notwithstanding the fact that it should also refer to
one.

2.) Genus: states the generic or general or common aspect of the essence of the
subject (triangle is a plane figure)

essence of the subject (triangle three-sided)
4.) Property: is any characteristic that is not the essence itself but flows from the
essence, is caused by essence, and therefore always present in the subject because
the essence is always present (triangle - 180 interior angles)
5.) Accident: any characteristic which is not essential to the term or subject (triangle
equilateral)
