The basic skill in colouring is to colour the basic shape. In order to generate good
colour, one have to master a few skills in colouring such as holding the colour
pencils with the correct way, following the line of the basic shape, colouring
evenly and colouring neatly. This action research is conducted to see the effect of
PeSenMata techniques which help to improve the colouring skills among the
special education students. Respondents in this study consisted of three
students with learning disabilities attending the Special Education Integration
Programme. The initial review carried out by the researcher through document
analysis, diagnostic test and observation showed that all the three students with
the learning disability were unable to colour the shape of the triangle and
rectangle as they were having the problem to control the coordination of their
eyes and their hands while they were colouring. Therefore, the PeSenMata
technique is used in this intervention study in order to improve the coordination
of the eyes and the hand among the respondents so that they can perform better
colouring skills. The data were collected through the test before and after the
intervention and the result indicated that all the respondents showed
improvement in their colouring skills. Thus, this study proves that the technique
of PeSenMata can help to improve the colouring skills of the basic shape among
the respondents.
