Lesson Plan Actions

(model an example of the 5 ws and H, for the student on the board) (the
rumble, since it will be a revision of the chapter) (Afterwards, the students
have to brain storm in small groups which chapter, topic they want, the fire
burning, Randy dying) (then individually they will be crafting these pieces of
writing) (Create a checklist with the 5, ws and the H, students will submit it
and then get 100% or 0%)

Phase 1: Go over the 5 Ws and H, of Journalism. Mini lesson on how to

write for the target audience and cover your basis. Need to have all of
the information in the allotted amount of space, however you also have
to engage the reader so that they keep reading.
Phase 2: Create a 5 Ws and H with the students on chapter 10 (or
something else they may be interested in) (Most likely Dallys death)

Dallas Winston, was found dead last night after being shot by police
officers. He was running away from officers after having robbed a
corner store. By standers saw that he was shot after he pulled out a
gun and aimed it at the chasing officers. Dally will be missed by his
friends, Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darry, Steve and two bits, this is the second
lost encountered in this group of friend in a short period of time as
Johnboy also passed away due to unrelated causes.
Who- Dallas Dally Winston
What Died from being shot by police officers
When At night, (Date??)
Where Leaving the gas stations and running towards Pony boys house.
Why Speculation could be had on why he died
How- Dally will be missed by his friends, Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darry, Steve
and two bits, this is the second lost encountered in this group of friend in a
short period of time as Johnboy also passed away due to unrelated causes.

Reporters question for Content creators.

If you are someone that needs to create content in order to connect with your
audience (who), then you may find it difficult to produce quality
material (why) on a consistent basis (when). If thats your situation, then using
a well-worn writers technique (how) called the reporters questions, or the 5
Ws and the H (what) may be just what you need.

Phase 3:. Ask them to try and come up with the important components
of each article, find similarities between each article. (Group work)
(Students will be asked to find the 5 Ws and the H in the article
provided).

Phase 4: Students will be asked to write a journal article on one of the

event in the book (preferably the chapters being covered for this
section)(Also suggest that if this is something they want to continue
working on for their 2nd essay they can, however they will need to
conference with me and refine it further)

Phase 5: They will present their article in small groups once they are
finished.
Phase 6: If there is time students can go over the plot and characters
from chapter 10.

Phase 6: Exit slip on the Reporters questions. (write down something

you have learnt today, did the lesson make sense, Thumbs up, thumbs
sideways, thumbs down)

(Or have a bunch of sticky notes, 3 different categories, students write

their name and class 4A, 5A, and then put their name in the category
that reflects how much they understood this concept)

Reflection (Post-Lesson): Sit down and think about the lesson that
you just delivered
