Aqu van algunas respuestas a dudas que suelen plantearme mis alumnos.
Its no es un adjetivo o pronombre posesivo, sino la forma contrada del verbo to be (it
is).
Egypt is famous for its pyramids - Egipto es famoso por sus pirmides
I would like to visit Egypt. Its a fascinating country - Me gustara visitar Egipto. Es un
pas fascinante
Para diferenciarlas mejor, veamos las dos formas en una misma oracin:
Its famous for its pyramids. What country is it? Es famoso por sus pirmides. Qu
pas es?

jirafa mide unos 18 pies de altura
Either Jane or Peter will take their son to school - O Jane o Peter llevarn a su hijo al
colegio
Somebody forgot their keys on the table - Alguien olvid sus llaves encima de la mesa
The student picks up a card and takes it to their desk. (A veces se prefiere esta forma
neutra para no usar ambos posesivos: The student goes to his/her desk) - El alumno coge
una tarjeta y la lleva a su pupitre
