RC-300 System Program Version 1.

05
This program is used to update the RC-300 system software to the most recent version.

How to tell the version


Please check the version of the system working on your RC-300 before downloading the archive file.
1. Adjust the MASTER [ LEVEL ] knob, TRACK [1] [2] [3] sliders and RHYTHM [ LEVEL
]knob to minimum.

2. Hold down the RHYTHM [ EDIT ] button and [ TAP TEMPO ] button and switch on the
power.
The left display will show the current version number at "Ver"

3. Turn RC-300 off after checking the version.

* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs Were fixed.
Some personal computers might not recognize the device connected with the USB 3.0 port.
Other USB equipments might not work when a personal computer rebooted with connecting
the device via the USB 3.0 port.

When you save a phrase memory after recording in the specific procedures, it might save
an unintended sound.

Some noises might occur on a USB Audio signal.
RC-300 might hang up when you switch an effect patch.

Bug Fix
The following bug is fixed.
RC-300 might stop working with the " Too Busy! " message on the display when it was
switched from "REC" to "PLAY" on the "Memory:Single Tr Play=ON" setting.

What you will need to update your RC-300


RC-300
USB cable
A computer with a USB connector ( Windows 7 / Vista / XP, MacOS X )

Caution when performing the update


We recommend that you back your user data up before you perform the update. If a
problem occurs and your user data is lost, you will be able to restore the original state by
restoring the data you backed up. For details on the procedure, refer to the Owner's
Manual.

Never apply this update data to any product other than the RC-300. This update data may
destroy the data or system program of other products.

Never power-off your RC-300 while the update is in progress!


If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the RC-300 wont
be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need
to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.

We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using
this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions
given in this document.

Getting the update file


Please open/extract the downloaded rc300_sys_v105.zip file on your computer to get the update files in
the rc300_sys_v105 folder.

Note:
You must not rename the extracted files.
Never turn off the RC-300's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system
program or the RC-300 itself may be destroyed.

Procedure for the update


Please install the extracted system program files into your RC-300 according to the following procedure.
1. Adjust the MASTER [ LEVEL ] knob, TRACK [1] [2] [3] sliders, and RHYTHM [
LEVEL ] knob to their minimum position.
* Do not connect the RC-300 and the computer yet.

2. Hold down the RHYTHM [ON/OFF] button and [TAP TEMPO] button and switch on
the power.
The message "RC-300 Updater" will appear on the display.

3. Connect the computer to the RC-300's USB port with a USB cable.
The message "Connected." will appear on the display.

4. Open the BOSS_RC-300 icon.


[ Windows ]

Within Computer (or My Computer), open BOSS_RC-300.


* Removable Disk (*:) may appear instead of the BOSS_RC-300 icon.

[ Mac OS ]

On the desktop, open the BOSS_RC-300 icon.

5. Copy (drag and drop) all the files included in the "rc300_sys_v105" folder into the
"BOSS_RC-300" icon.
* Do not copy the rc300_sys_v105 folder. Copy the individual update files within the
folder.

6. Disconnect the BOSS_RC-300 from the computer.


[ Windows ]
Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows task tray to un-mount the USB
memory and then disconnect the USB memory from your computer.

[ Mac OS ]
Drag the Drive icon of the USB memory into the trash in the dock and then remove the
USB memory from your computer.

7. Press [ WRITE ] button to start the update process.

8. The message "Completed." will appear on the display when the update process
completes.

9. Turn the RC-300 power off.


Please verify the version number with the procedure described in "How to tell the
version" part of this document.
