Instructions to DROPS 38-1

Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.3. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS side.

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.

Garter st, in the round: K 1 round, P 1 round.

Buttonholes: Make buttonholes on right front piece when piece measures: 1-1-1 cm, 13-14-12 cm, 25-27-23
cm, 37-40-34 cm, 49-52-45 cm, 61-64-56 cm and 0-0-67 cm. 1 buttonhole = bind o 4th and 5th st from mid
front and cast on 2 new sts on return row.

Short version: For short version reduce the measurements for armhole and neckline by 24-25-26 cm.
Finished measurements = 50-52-54 cm. Reduce materials by 100 g. Make buttonholes when piece measures
1-1-1, 10-10-11, 19-20-21, 28-30-31 and 37-39-41 cm.

Front and back piece:

Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front. Numbers in ( ) refer to Safran.
Loosely cast on 241-253-265 (277-289-301) sts on needle size 4 (3.5) mm/US 6 (4), change to needle size 3
(3) mm/US 2.5 and work 4 rows garter st.
Change back to needle size 4 (3.5) mm US 6 (4), and continue in pattern as follows:
6 garter sts (= front band), chart M.1, chart M.2 x 18-19-20 (21-22-23) times, chart M.3 and 6 garter sts (=
front band).
Continue in pattern like this. Remember the knitting gauge and buttonholes on right front piece!
When piece measures 47-50-52 (47-50-52) cm work next row as follows from RS: 61-64-67 (70-73-76) sts =
front piece, bind o 4 sts for armhole, 111-117-123 (129-135-141) sts = back piece, bind o 4 sts for
armhole, 61-64-67 (70-73-76) sts = front piece.
Now complete each piece separately.

Front piece: = 61-64-67 (70-73-76) sts.

Dec to shape the armhole on every other row: 2 sts 2-3-3 (2-3-4) times and 1 st 1-2-3 (3-4-3) times = 56-56-
58 (63-63-65) sts.
When piece measures 62-65-68 (62-65-68) cm dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 6-7-7 (8-9-9) sts
1 time (includes the 6 front band sts), 2 sts 4 (4) times, 1 st 9 (5) times and then on every 3rd row: 1 st 0 (4)
times.
Bind o when piece measures 74-77-80 (74-77-80) cm.

Back piece: = 111-117-123 (129-135-141) sts.

Dec for armhole as described for front piece = 101-101-105 (115-115-119) sts.
When piece measures 72-75-78 (72-75-78) cm bind o the middle 31-33-33 (35-37-37) sts for neck and dec 2
sts on neckline on next row.
Bind o when piece measures 74-77-80 (74-77-80) cm.

Sleeve:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 44-44-44 (50-50-50) sts on double pointed needle size 4 (3.5) mm/US 6 (4), change to needle size 3
(3) mm/US 2.5 and work 4 rows garter st.
Change back to needle size 4 (3.5) mm/US 6 (4) and continue in chart M.2 (make sure to place a pattern
repeat mid upper sleeve.
At the same time after the garter st inc 2 sts mid under arm on every 3rd round a total of 32-32-34 (37-37-
39) times = 108-108-112 (124-124-128) sts (incorporate inc sts in pattern as you go along).
When piece measures 44-45-45 (44-45-45) cm bind o 6 sts mid under arm and complete piece back and
forth on needle.
Dec to shape the sleeve cap on every other row 5 sts 7 (8) times and bind o .
Piece measures approx 50-51-51 (50-51-51) cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.

Pick up approx 100 to 106 (106 to 114) sts round neckline on needle size 3 (3) mm/US 2.5 and work 4 rows
garter st back and forth on needle from mid front. Bind o .
Set in sleeves.
Sew on buttons.
