Over the course of the program, I volunteered as a student interpreter in a variety of settings including
extracurricular activities and lessons, meetings, camps, workshops, parties, and other community events
resulting in over 100 hours of volunteer interpreting experience.

During my time at Seabeck, I provided support to Deaf-Blind individuals attending the Retreat. This
included guiding, interpreting, and relaying environmental information.

I provided interpretation for a variety of activities, settings, and interactions while at the Deaf camp run
by Deaf Youth Today on Hornby Island, BC.

YOUTH WITH A MISSION | THE PHILIPPINES | JANUARY 2015 FEBRUARY 2015


This was the Outreach Phase of my previously mentioned Discipleship Training School. During this phase,
I volunteered for two months in the Philippines with various organizations that provide services to Deaf
people. This included on month working with kids in a Deaf high school and various Deaf elementary
schools.

WORK EXPERIENCE
CAMP LEADER | DEAF YOUTH TODAY | JUNE 2016 AUGUST 2016
I was one of the leaders of a group of 4-12 kids (depending on the week) with a few other staff on my
team. I served as the group leader for two out of the five weeks that we had kids camps running. I was
responsible for the safety of my group of kids throughout the day.

CAMP LEADER | BABIES TO BIG KIDS | JUNE 2015 AUGUST 2015


I was the leader (with another adult) of 10-15 kids, depending on the week. I was responsible for
supervising the kids during outside play, inside activities, lunch time, snack time, and field trips. I was
also responsible for surface cleaning at the beginning and end of each day, and deep cleaning at the end of
each week.

I worked closely with three different children (at different times), each with Autism Spectrum Disorder:
two in preschool and one in grade two. I assisted the teacher with the lesson while providing extra
support for the child that I was working with.
