Immigrants
From the beginning of the United States until now, this country has been a home
to many immigrants such as my family. Immigrants are those who come to live
permanently in a foreign country. They move for better opportunities, a new life, or to
escape from any political or economic situations that can threaten their lives. As
against and treated unfairly. Some examples of how immigrants are treated unfairly are
It is evident that immigrants do not receive the equal amount of rights compared
to the United States citizens. The rights such as, residency, medical care, citizenship,
and the right to vote. Because immigrants are here illegally, they do not have the right
and power to rent or buy a house under their name. According to KQED News, in Los
Angeles, 46 thousand people were homeless immigrants. This shows how much the
immigrants are likely to become homeless. This leads them to illegally buy and rent their
house by using another name; for example, a friends or relative who are legal
residents. Immigrants do not receive the proper medical care and insurance as well.
With the exception of emergency medical care, undocumented immigrants are not
eligible for federally funded public health insurance programs. So if an immigrant were
to be injured, damage their car, robbed, etc. they would not be able to receive proper
treatment and care for them. When it comes down to it, immigrants have very little
The United States is considered the country for immigrants. Yet, there is still a
great amount of discrimination against immigrants in places like the workplace. This
causes financial problems to rise, leading to many days, months, and years of economic
hardships. The civil rights act that was enacted in 1964, states that employers are
because of her national origin. What has this act actually helped eliminate
discrimination though? We clearly see that this has not been acted upon many
to obtain a job without a green card is very difficult. That factor should not be what
determines whether you can get the job or not. Immigrants are also discriminated in the
workplace because of their language barrier. Their lack of ability to speak english is one
of many reasons why they are not hired. One of the biggest reasons how immigrants
are being discriminated in the workplace is because of their ethnicity. Many employers
look at their ethnicity and based on what may have happened in the past with crimes,
bombings, terrorism, etc. with ethnicities such as middle eastern and latinos. They are
simply being criticized and are assumed of being bad people just because of their
ethnicity. The workplace is one of many places where immigrants can be hurt and
discriminated and there needs to be more equality and less racial prejudice.
For immigrants to come to a foreign country which they know nothing about,
doesnt know the language, takes up a lot of hard work and determination. They have to
sacrifice so much in order to try and live happily. However, the United States makes
makes it so hard for them to be successful. We have let them be discriminated against,
we have not given them equal rights, we have given them less opportunities, we have
not provided them any safety. This country needs to come to a realization and become
aware of what is going on with immigrants and what we are doing to them. All humans
deserve equal rights and equality among everyone. Immigrants are humans too.
Therefore, all immigrants deserve equal rights and shall not be discriminated against.
