SURFACE WATER Trash from human

oil spills and gasoline
waste, which float on the
surface and affect the
water and its inhabitants.
Groundwater Pollution Groundwater pollution is
usually caused by highly
toxic chemicals and
pesticides from farming
that leak through the
ground to contaminate the
wells and aquifers below
the surface.

by eating seafood that has
been poisoned. It also kills
life that inhabits water-

Groundwater pollutants can

groundwater or grown in

hazardous, as the skin is
the body's largest living
organ.

Avoid throwing up garbage
in the lakes, rivers or any
surface water. Plastics and
many non -biodegradable

oils can be reused after

Microbiological Pollution Microbiological pollution is
the natural form of water
pollution that is caused by
microorganisms in uncured
water. Most of these
organisms are harmless but
some bacteria, viruses, and
protozoa can cause serious
diseases such as cholera
and typhoid.
Oxygen Depletion Microorganisms that thrive

water. These diseases
usually affect the health of

as they do not have the
facilities to treat polluted
water.
When these oxygen levels
are depleted, harmless
aerobic microorganisms die
and anaerobic
microorganisms thrive.
Some of these organisms
produce damaging toxins
like sulfide and ammonia.
The increased productivity
from eutrophication
increases oxygen
consumption in the system
and can lead to low-oxygen
(hypoxic) or oxygen-free
(anoxic) water bodies. This
can lead to fish kills as well
as more subtle changes in
ecological structure and
functioning, such as
lowered biotic diversity and
lowered recruitment of fish
We should have household
connection to the sanitation

stream for fishing,
swimming, or any other
