Conclusion
To start with, it was difficult for me to combine the Mentorship project with my own obligations. I
live in Antwerp, work 20 hours a week and combine this with a full 2 nd year program of IBM. I wished
I could have been present more often with my mentees, but it often happened that either they, or I
could not be present at the exact date.
Therefore, I could not be present during the bowling event. I heard it was a lot of fun. I did offered
my help with any question they might have. I opened a group chat on Facebook, and helped them
with several questions during the year. I believe this is the most important task of being a mentor. I
remember that my mentor last year did not show up the entire year. I only knew his name, but he
never reached out to me. I did not want to do the same.
Customer Satisfaction
I think that my mentees enjoyed the peer monitoring event we held. I helped Korneel Lams with
specific questions with regards to report writing. I could see the gratitude which was nice for both
parties.
Mentor position
As mentioned earlier, it was difficult to accomplish my position as a mentor, because I was not
present at all events. I have explained them about my specific situation and that it is difficult. It was
difficult for all of us, since we are a group of 5, and everyone has their own obligations and
schedules. Jonas and I were always available for questions via Facebook or if we encountered them
at school, which is the most important function of being a mentor.
