To give a handicraft look to the complex, natural materials and the maximum possible manual labour have been used.
Water as a landscape element is used throughout by fountains in foyer and lobbies.
Buildings are low profiled masses that are loosely connected.
The inner structure skin is pierced by windows and the outer provides protection from extreme weather.
The theme darkness to light is achieved in the building by a grade admittance of natural light from the dark auditorium to
the bright researches cubical.
A walled garden is developed outside the library.
Residential accommodation caters to the needs of staff, researches and visiting scholars.

concentrically around the central open space.
A system of quarter-circle passages on different levels connects
to the three separate research blocks which span out in radial
fashion.
All the academic facilities of the Institute are organized concentrically around this central open space.
The form of the buildings themselves with their many different external treatments is rich and varied, but despite the
strong central order which pervades the complex, the architect's penchant for post-modernist effects tends to distract.
The walls, covered with glazed tiles, rough plastered stucco in different colors, and made of Malad stone - while recalling
Jain's earlier works in Rajasthan - do not successfully hold together and tend to break down the strongly integrated fabric
of the complex.
