1.0 Introduction
This document contains M.R.Ds tender submission for the construction of Stark Enterprises
Mars Rover Design. It has been written in accordance to the criteria outlined by Stark
Enterprise, in their design package, Design Package Revision 2.pdf.
The design package shows a main wooden chassis with a box-shaped cradle support
attached to the top. The 600mL bottle is secured within the cradle by ribbon strung
between nails extruding out of the cradle. The rover has 4 wheels constructed from
6 CDs each and wrapped in balloon for extra traction and tensile strength. These
wheels are attached to unthreaded rods used as axles. Sponge blocks are used on
the front and bottom bumpers to help absorb impact of landing.
The design package specifies that the total unit cost is $20.42 and the total bulk
pricing cost $28.42, sitting within the restriction of a maximum of $30 in part costs.
2.3 Concerns
For the most part, M.R.D do not have any concerns with the design package as it all
appears to be well thought out. The only minor concern is if the CD wheels will be
able to withstand the impact force. However, if we are successful with our
submission, we will conduct extensive testing with such wheels and report back.

3.0 Criteria
We can assure the design team of Stark Enterprise that the M.R.D contractors meet all listed
criteria as outlined in the following points.
M.R.D can assure you that we will make it an utmost priority to attend meetings. We
believe that such meetings are beneficial to both parties and therefore will strive to
have all our contractors present at all meetings.
5
3.2.2 Means of Communication
Contractors are expected to respond to all emails within 24 hours with clear
communication and effective use of formal language. It is expected that all
communication is without the use of filler language and with the use of clear and
unambiguous language. If attachments are included within the email, their file name
and purpose must be stated clearly within the email to prevent confusion.
As with meeting attendance, the M.R.D contractors believe that timely, concise and
well-structured emails is beneficial to both parties. Given this, we will strive to up
keep email standards, replying within the 24 hour expected reply rate,
communicating clearly and keeping emails concise.
Kheeshon Selvraja, a contractor on the M.R.D team, has ample experience with
maintaining high levels of occupational health and safety. Kheeshon has experience
as a general construction worker, while he lived in Malaysia. His occupation required
him to have a license from the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB),
which ensures that Kheeshon is a safe and reliable worker. Kheeshons CIDB licence
has been attached in appendix C.
Understanding of the conceptual design has been presented in the meeting held, but
also outlined in this tender submission document [see 2.1 Understanding of
Design]. We believe we have a thorough understanding of the rover design and will
be able to construct it as to what was intended by the Stark Enterprise design team.
6
3.4.2 Ability to Find Hazards within the Design
As with all designs, there are always hazards that are present during the build
phase, for this reason contractors must be able to successfully identify as many
hazards as possible and these hazards must be relevant to the build phase of the
design. For this criterion, the contractor will be able to set a meeting Page 5 of 5
Stark Enterprise 2017 with the design team to discuss potential hazards.
Points of possible hazards have been raised in the meeting between the Stark
Enterprise design team, and the M.R.D contractors. We believe that all potential
hazards have been raised, but will continue be vocal about any we may find. We
guarantee that all potential hazards found will be communicated to the design team
in a timely manner.
It is of utmost priority to the M.R.D contractors that we retain the highest standards
quality in the construction of the rover design. Possible substitution were raised
during the meeting. However if we come across any others that we think would be
more suitable, we can assure you that everything will be communicated, and no
actions will be taken until approval is given.
