The CarieScan is the rst dental diagnostic tool to use ACIST (AC Impedance
Spectroscopy Technology) to quantify dental caries measuring changes in tooth
mineral density. It is simple to use, pain free, automatically calibrated, and
Bluetooth enabled.

No matter how experienced or skilled a practitioner may be, scientic evidence

indicates that it is not always possible to overcome the limitations of the human eye

The device is indicated for the detection, diagnosis, and monitoring of
primary
coronal dental caries occlusal and accessible smooth surfaces, which are not
clearly
visible to the human eye.

Studies show that even the latest digital X-ray systems do not provide adequate
diagnostic quality to identify initial carious lesions.
Accuracy
CarieScan has a sensitivity (detection of caries) and a specicity (does not falsely

The CarieScan is calibrated at production. At every startup the device performs a

series of tests to ensure the measurement circuit is operating within specication.

Preparation of the tooth

Dry a clean tooth for 5 seconds using a standard air syringe. Use cotton rolls to
manage saliva. If the tooth is not dried adequately, the results may be inconsistent.

surfaces.

The CarieScan PRO measures the characteristics of the real tooth structure directly
beneath the sensor contact point. This means you can measure unrestored sites

Always apply the custom sleeve. After removal of the sleeve the CarieScan PRO and
Cable should be wiped down with alcohol-based wipes. The unit is not autoclavable.
The lip hook is autoclavable.

Can the CarieScan PRO be used on pregnant patients? Yes. The CarieScan PRO
does not use ionizing radiation.

Can the CarieScan PRO be used on patients with cardiac pacemakers? No,
CarieScan Pro should not be used on patients with cardiac pacemakers.

With 94.8% accuracy in detecting caries and healthy tooth structure, the CarieScan
