1 Introduction
The identified Organisation is Informatics International Ltd, which provides IT business
solutions for many local and global industries.
It is a subsidiary company under Informatics Group Company, and here are the companies under
Informatics group Company
Since its inception in 1983, Informatics has been building its position not only as a provider of
quality IT solutions and Leader in the educational and agricultural sectors. For over two decades
Informatics established two specialized IT solutions companies
- Informatics Pvt Ltd (IPL)
- Informatics International Ltd (IIL)
And education arm of the company-
- Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT)
Agricultural Sector
- Agrotech Ltd
Which establish since 1983 as Informatics Pvt Ltd still operated in the same name as a separate
company.
From above group of company selected organisation is Informatics International Ltd.
Informatics International Ltd offers numerous solutions catered to increasing the efficiency and
operating functionality of any business or organization by taking scalability and flexibility into
account.

With the view of empowering organizations and industries in the Information position by being a
pioneer in Sri Lankas IT sector, hosts some of the most cost effective and productive software
solutions that include products and services for sectors / Industries such as

Informatics which has today branched out to the international domain by having its presence in
several Asian, African and Pacific Island regions, won the praise and trust of several commercial
and industrial heavyweights in and outside the region.
By utilizing flexible and innovative technologies Informatics aim to provide past, current and
potential clients with services that can enhance businesses through means such as integration,
solution development and consultations.

The organisation structured as above figure starting from Board of Directors, Managing Director
and Chief Executive Officer, people who make decisions of the company. And after Unit heads,
Team Leaders and Employees. Altogether over a 250 employees are working in the IIL.
Because of Layers and Span of Control in this company and with in contrast to a tall
organisation, a flat organisation will have relatively few layers management. This means that the
Chain of Command from top to bottom is short and the span of control is wide. If a manager
has lots of employees reporting to them, their span of control is said to be wide. A manager with
a small number of direct reports has a narrow span of control. Due to the small number of
management layers this organisation has identified as Flat Organisation Structure. Most of the
Employees are professionals therefore the reporting and Layers of Management are limited.
2 Management
The founder of this company Dr. Gamini Wasanatha Kuamara Wickraasignhe still works as
chairmen of the company.

Dr. Wickramasinghe is the former Chairman of Bank of Ceylon,

Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, Insurance
Board of Sri Lanka and Property Development PLC. He was
appointed to the Board of Lanka Hospitals on 1st July 2010.

He holds a Masters Degree in System Analysis from the University of Aston. Birmingham, UK
and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from the Manchester Metropolitan
University, UK.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management institute (FCMI) UK, and a Fellow of the British
Computer Society (FBCS). Dr. Wickramasinghe has over a decade of extensive senior level
experience obtained in the United Kingdom and. Belgium.
He returned to Sri Lanka in 1983 and founded Informatics Group of Companies and currently
functions as its Chairman.

After 10 years of operation Informatics into the European market by opening its first
office in London.
