Episode 1
FFF
Youth is a lie. It is evil.
Those who claim to enjoy it are deluding themselves and others. They fit the eve
nts and environment around them to the youth mold as self-confirmation. They wil
l fit any commonly held interpretations of life events to this mold in the name
of youth. To them, lies, secrets, sins and failures are but seeds of spice in th
eir youth. Supposedly, such failures were an indication of youth, then one who h
as failed to make friends must also be at the height of his youth. But, they wou
ld disagree on this point. Everything must fit into their preconstructed mold.
To conclude: Fools who enjoy this thing called "youth," should go and freaking d
ie.
Commie
Youth is both a lie, and a form of evil.
Those that glorify youth are only fooling themselves and those around them and b
elieve that their surroundings always affirm their actions. By using the word "y
outh", they twist and distort common sense and anything logical. For them, lies,
secrets, sins and failures do nothing but add spice to their youth. If failure
is the hallmark of being young like they say, then someone who's failed to make
friends must be at the peak of his youth, right? However, I'm sure they would di
sagree. All of this is just their double standards at play and nothing else. Her
e's the bottom line:
Fools that enjoy their youth should go kill themselves.
WhyNot
Youth is a lie. It is evil.
Those who sing praise for the springtime of youth are constantly deceiving thems
elves and those around them. They're completely engrossed, as if hypnotized, in
the atmosphere. If it's for the sake of their "youth", they'll distort common se
nse and even reject social norms. For them, things like lies, secrets, sins, and
failures are just spices of life. If things like failure are the signs of youth
, then the people who fail to make any friends are in full bloom during this "sp
ringtime of youth"? Well, I'm sure that's something they would refuse to acknowl
edge. It's all a double standard set by them. My conclusion is:
Those fools who enjoy the "springtime of life" should just die.
Episode 2:
FFF
Animals naturally form packs.
Carnivores form social hierarchies within their packs. Those that fail to become
alphas harbor the burden of failure until they die. I'm sure the herbivores fee
l guilt as they sacrifice their comrades to evade their predators and live on. I
n this world, forming packs yields no benefit for the individual. Thus, I choose
the way of the solitary bear, which does not form packs. The bear finds no anxi
ety in living alone. He is proud. He is a lone wolf. Furthermore, they hibernate
in the winter. How wonderful that must be. There is no doubt in my mind.
In my next life, I want to be a bear.
Commie
Animals generally form groups.
Carnivores have a hierarchy, and those that don't manage to get to the top of th
e food chain will live a life of constant stress. Herbivores have their own prob
lems, like being forced to abandon their own to survive enemy attacks. As you ca
n see, being in a group brings no advantages to the individual. Thus, I choose t
o be the bear, a beast that refuses to form groups with others. It's an animal o
f isolation that's not at all worried about its solitary lifestyle. Let's not fo
rget that bears get to hibernate as well. Oh, what a wonderful existence.
If I'm ever reincarnated, I most certainly would like to be reborn as a bear.
WhyNot
Animals are fundamentally social creatures.
There's a hierarchy among carnivores. If you can't become the alpha, the stress
will continue to pile up until you die. Herbivores face the dilemma of whether o
r not to sacrifice one of their own in order to survive when attacked by their n
atural enemy. Something like the "individual" has no benefit for those social cr
eatures. Then I will choose the path of the bear: To never socialize. Bears are
creatures that feel no insecurity in living alone. They're an animal that lives
in isolation. Plus, they can hibernate. What a fabulous thing that is.
If I were to be reborn, I definitely want to be a bear.
Episode 3:
FFF
[Sensei,] I'm not feeling very well. Can I just hit it against the wall?
It's just perfect. The ultimate countermeasure against the old pairing up routin
e, which I've developed over the course of my loner life. The combination of "I
don't feel so good" and "dead weight for my partner" doesn't just have synergist
ic effects. It also subtly hints that I do want to do something during gym.
[...]
Why the hell did I just bow? Did my instincts judge Hayama to be higher than me
in the social hierarchy? Fuck me. I took my dark and dastardly emotions and slun
g them at the wall. Walls are a part of youth.
Commie
[Sensei,] I don't feel very good, so can I play off the wall? If I pair up with
someone, I'm just gonna be a burden to him.
Flawless to a fault. I've had plenty of time in my long-lasting lonely life to p
erfect a solution to the "Pair Up With Whoever You Like" problem. "I don't feel
good" plus "I don't want to be a burden" are two complaints that synergize perfe
ctly. I also casually point out that I'm still willing and eager, which is vital
.
[...]
Why on earth did I just bow? Looks like I instinctively came to the conclusion t
hat Hayama was superior to me. How degrading. I took these feelings, rapidly des
cending into despair, and threw them against the wall.
Walls and obstacles are part and parcel of youth.
WhyNot
[Sensei,] I'm not feeling very well, so can I practice against a wall? I'd just
be a hindrance otherwise.
That went perfectly. That's something I've mastered through my long years of sol
itude. It's my "Pair Up With Someone You Like" countermeasure. "I'm not feeling
very well" plus "I'd just be a hindrance otherwise" are two excuses that have pe
rfect synergy with each other, and at the same time don't fail to express how mo
tivated I am.
[...]
Why did I nod there? It would appear as though I instinctively judged Hayama as
my superior. That's pathetic, even for me. I'll knock these gloomy feelings of m
ine right into the wall.
Walls are an indispensable part of youth.

Episode 4
FFF
Little sisters are a strange being.
No matter how cute they are, you don't feel anything for them. Their underwear i
s naught but cloth.
That's what real little sisters are like.
[...]
A wise man once said, "When you work, you lose." To labor is to take on risk and
obtain a return. Thus, my decision not to work and instead enter the household
is not only valid, but also absolutely and positively legitimate. And so, for th
e upcoming workplace visit, I wish to visit my own home, where a full-time stay-
at-home husband does his work.
Commie
Little sisters are strange indeed.
No matter how cute they are, you just can't feel anything for them. When I see h
er underwear, I just think, "Yep, that's 100% cotton."
That's what real little sisters are like.
[...]
As they say, 'To work is to lose.' Working is the act of risking something to ge
t a reward. Hence, my choice to stay at home and not work is perfectly valid and
entirely justifiable. As such, for the upcoming field trip, I'd like to select
a stay-at-home dad's workplace, e.g., my own home.
WhyNot
Those beings we call little sisters are mysterious indeed.
No matter how cute they seem, you can't feel any affection towards them. I can't
think of her underwear as being anything other than cloth.
Little sisters are strange like that.
[...]
According to the ancients, if you work, you lose. Labor is the act of incurring
risk to get a return. Therefore, the appropriate choice for me is to enter a fam
ily without having to work. Furthermore, this is completely justifiable. Consequ
ently, for this workplace field trip, as a future stay-at-home husband, I wish t
o visit my home.
Episode 5
FFF
I hate nice girls.
Just exchanging pleasantries with them makes me curious, and texting each other
makes me feel restless. If I get a call, for the rest of the day, I keep checkin
g my call history with a stupid grin on my face. But I know the truth. They're j
ust being nice. Anyone nice to me is nice to others too. But I always find mysel
f on the verge of forgetting that. If the truth is a cruel mistress, then a lie
must be a nice girl. And so, niceness is a lie. I would always hold expectations
. I would always misunderstand. At some point, I stopped hoping. An experienced
loner never falls for the same trap twice. A lone warrior, surviving hundreds of
battles. When it comes to losing, I'm the strongest. That's why, no matter what
happens, I will always hate nice girls.
Commie
I hate nice girls.
Just exchanging greetings with them will get them on your mind. Start texting ea
ch other, and your heart will be set aflutter. If they call you, you're done for
. Enjoy staring at your logs and grinning like a fool. However, I won't get fool
ed again. That's what your kind calls kindness. If you're nice to me, you're als
o nice to others. I always end up nearly forgetting that. Reality is cruel, so I
'm sure lies are a form of kindness. Thus, I say kindness itself is also a lie.
I always ended up with these expectations. And I always ended up with these misu
nderstandings. And before I knew it, I stopped hoping. A highly-trained loner is
once bitten, twice shy. As a veteran on this battlefield of life, I've gotten u
sed to losing. That's why I'll always...
hate nice girls.
WhyNot
I hate those types of kind girls.
You can't get them off your mind if they merely say hi to you. Just a single tex
t from them can make your heart flutter. Then if you get a call from them, you'l
l just keep happily looking at the call history like an idiot. But I know better
. About that thing called "kindness." If someone is kind to me, they're also kin
d to others. I almost forget that sometimes. If the truth is that cruel, then I'
m sure lies are truly kind. That's why kindness is a farce. I always get my hope
s up and end up misunderstanding every time... At some point I just gave up hope
. I'm an experienced loner. I'll never again fall for it. I'm a veteran warrior.
I'm absolute best at losing.
So I will forever hate kind girls.

Okay, cool. We're totally reset.
By resetting our relationship, I've regained my peace of mind, and Yuigahama has
been freed from the chains of guilt and can now return to her original fulfilli
ng life. I didn't make the wrong decision. My decision was as right as they come
. And so, that's the end of that. We reset, and return to our separate lives. Yo
u can't reset your life, but you can reset your relationships. [Source: Me]. Lik
e how I haven't talked to anyone from middle school- That wasn't a reset, that w
as a delete. [Tehee]
Commie
Aw yeah. That was totally cool of me. Our relationship's gone back to square one
.
By resetting our relationship, I've finally regained my peace of mind, and havin
g been freed from her guilt, Yuigahama can go back to her original fulfilling li
fe. I'm pretty sure I didn't make the wrong choice. No, I did the right thing. N
ow that this is over, we're back to how we started and can now live our own live
s again. There's no reset button on life, but you can at least reset your relati
onships. Trust me. I know. I haven't been in touch with any of my classmates fro
m middle school - Wait... That wasn't a reset, but a deletion. Teehee.
WhyNot
Okay. Smooth. Things are completely reset.
My heart is at ease once again because our relationship has been reset. Yuigaham
a has been freed from her guilt. She has returned to her normal life. Considerin
g my options, it wasn't the wrong decision. No, it was the correct choice. That'
s why it ended with this. It's fine if we just return to our normal daily routin
es again. While you can't reset your life, you can reset your relationships. The
source is me. Not a single one of my middle school classmates has contacted- Th
at wasn't a reset. It was a deletion. [Teehee]

"You've got mail!"
This is how it'll go down. At 2 am, I'll reply with "Sorry, battery was out!" or
"Sorry, looks like I was in a dead zone!" You'll have them cornered every time
with those lines. [Source: Me]. When I was in middle school, I gathered up my co
urage and texted some girls, and 40% came back with these replies. Another 30% n
ever replied, and for the remaining 30%, I received a message from a foreigner n
amed Mailer Daemon.
Commie
"You've got mail!"
All right. It'll be fine as long as I reply late at night with a "Sorry! It was
out of batteries!" Or a "Looks like I was out of range for a bit!" or something.
That'll guarantee that the sender can't criticize me for not replying earlier.
Source: Me. back in middle school, I mustered up the courage and texted girls, o
nly to get this kind of reply 40% of the time. By the way, 30% of the time, I go
t no reply, and the last 30% was comprised of replies from some foreigner named
MAILER-DAEMON.
WhyNot
"You've got mail!"
I'll be fine. Later tonight I'll respond with "Sorry! My battery died." or maybe
, "I didn't have service." That should be good enough. With a response like that
, she can't really blame me. The source is me. In middle school, if I was bold e
nough to message a girl, 40% of the time she would respond like that. Incidental
ly, 30% of the time there was no response at all. The remaining 30% of the time,
I would get a response from some foreigner called Mailer Daemon.
Episode 8
FFF
I see. This girl's already given up.
They say the world changes when you change, but that's not true. People judge ot
hers based on stereotypes and impressions. Loners will be judged as loners forev
er. If you try to do something and stand out, they'll just use it to bring you d
own. It's an iron rule of the rotten society of children.
Problem: The world will never change. You can change yourself. How will you chan
ge?
Answer: Become the god of a new world.
[...]
Only the strong think they can't run away. It's not always your own fault. Human
ity, society, the world around you... Someone else is wrong in plenty of cases.
"I can change," means adjusting to that shitty, cold-hearted and cruel world. It
means admitting defeat and subordination. It's a euphemism you use to deceive e
ven yourself.
Commie
I see. She's given up already.
They say that if you change yourself, you'll change the world, but that's a comp
lete lie. When people judge somebody, it becomes a fixed idea and an impression
that lasts. A loner is forced to stay a loner. If you do your best at something
and stand out, that'll only get used as fodder for criticism. Those are the rott
en rules of the Kingdom of Children.
Question: The world will not change, but you can change yourself. So then, how w
ill you change?
Answer: You become the god of a new world.
[...]
"You can't run away" is just how the strong think. It's impossible for it to alw
ays be the individual's fault. Plenty of times, it's society, the world, your su
rroundings, or someone else that's mistaken. By saying that "you can change your
self", you're conforming to that trashy, indifferent, and cold world. You're adm
itting you've lost to it and becoming its slave. You're only dressing it up in p
retty words and deceiving everyone, including yourself.
WhyNot
I get it. This girl has given up already.
People often say, "If I change myself, I'll change the world." That's a load of
crap. People's judgment of others creates a stereotype, and that's the impressio
n that lasts. Loners are forced to do things alone. If you try to stand out by w
orking hard at something, you just become a target for attack. It's the rotten r
ule of the children's kingdom.
Question: The world won't change. But you can change yourself. So how should you
change?
Answer: I'll become the god of the new world.
[...]
"It's wrong to run away" is something only the strong think. It's not always you
that's in the wrong. In Society, the world, and your surroundings, there are pl
enty of times when someone else is mistaken. "I can change." That means conformi
ng like the indifferent trash living in this harsh world. It's admitting defeat
and giving in to subordination. It's no more than deceiving yourself with petty
words.

I love myself.
I have never once hated myself. My high base specs, my kind of good looks, my pe
ssimistic, but realistic perspective - I can't say I hate them whatsoever. But r
ight now, I'm on the verge of hating myself. The Yukinoshita Yukino that I've kn
own, always beautiful, unable to lie, honest, always standing on her own two fee
t, without anyone or anything to support her. I'm sure that I held Yukinoshita Y
ukino in admiration. I chose to expect things out of her. I chose to force my id
eals on her. I chose to feel like I understood her. And so I chose to be disappo
inted. As much as I've told myself not to, I still do it. Even Yukinoshita Yukin
o lies. I can't accept this basic fact. And so,
I hate myself.
Commie
I love myself.
I've never once in my life hated myself. I don't hate my high specs, my half-ass
ed good looks, and my pessimistic and pragmatic outlook. I don't hate them at al
l. But it looks like I'm gonna hate myself for the first time ever. In my eyes,
Yukinoshita Yukino was always beautiful, never lied, was sincere, and stood on h
er own two feet regardless of whether she had any support. I'm sure I admired th
e Yukinoshita Yukino I saw. I selfishly held high hopes for her, selfishly burde
ned her with my ideals, thought I understood her, and selfishly got disappointed
by her. I'd warned myself about this over and over again, but it looks I haven'
t been cured of it all. Everyone lies, and Yukinoshita Yukino is no exception. H
ere I am, finding myself unable to forgive something so obvious and ordinary. An
d I
hate myself for it.
WhyNot
I like myself.
I've never once for a single second hated myself. My base stats are quite good,
and I'm not ugly either. I'm pessimistic and realistic. I definitely don't hate
myself. But now, for the first time in my life, I feel like I might despise myse
lf. The Yukinoshita Yukino I knew was always beautiful, and she'd never lie. She
was just, and she'd keep standing even if there was no footing to stand on. I t
hink I was captivated by Yukinoshita Yukino. I held my own expectations and forc
ed them on her. Sometimes I'd assume I understood her, then I'd just get myself
disappointed. I tried sobering myself so many times, yet I couldn't fix that par
t of me. Even Yukinoshita Yukino lies. The way I refuse to accept something so o
bvious is simply
despicable

Hayama and Meguri-senpai's opinion is completely and absolutely correct. They're
the best. They're inspiring. What a beautiful sense of fellowship.
But does that make doing everything by yourself wrong? Why should someone who ha

I won't stand for it.
Commie
What Hayama and Meguri said wasn't wrong in any way. Amazing. I'm moved to tears
. Such wonderful camaraderie.
But really, is it bad to do things by yourself? Why does someone who worked her
socks off, even by herself, have to be rejected here?
I will not let that happen.
WhyNot
Hayama and Meguri are quite right. This is wonderful. I'm touched. What wonderfu

But then, is it wrong to do stuff by yourself? If someone worked hard on their o

I can't allow that.

The request Yukinoshita accepted was to make Sagami's stint as committee chair a
success. Bringing only the results back is tantamount to making Yukinoshita Yuk
ino's efforts for naught. My job right now is to make sure Sagami Minami gets up
on the stage as the committee chair. And on top of that, to instill in her the
honor, frustration, and regret associated with the position. To do that, I could
simply tell her the words she wants to hear. But unfortunately, I don't have it
in me to say them.
[...]
Yukinoshita did things her way to the bitter end. And so, I'll do things my way.
Unequivocal, invective, vile, villainous, and vicious.
Commie
The request Yukinoshita undertook was to help Sagami carry out her duties as com

Unfortunately, I can't do that.
[...]
Yukinoshita stuck to her beliefs and got this far doing things her way. Then I n

WhyNot
The request Yukinoshita accepted is to help Sagami fulfill her duty as committee
chairman. If I went back with just the results, it would be like rejecting ever

"It's more important to participate than to win."
Since Pierre de Coubertin, the father of the modern Olympic Games, stated this p
assionately in speech, everyone has heard this phrase. However, it is often used
out of context, to force the unwilling into participating "willingly." In this
world, there are plenty of things where putting in effort is pointless. If parti
cipation is, in fact, important, then it must also be important to participate i
n not participating. If experience is of value, then the experience of not exper
iencing must also be of value.
In fact, you could say it is necessary for someone not to experience what others
do.
[...]
The day after a festival is a festival like any other. There are things you can'
t do over in life. But whether you like it or not, life goes on, and one day hig
h school will be over.
And so, their festival will never end.
Commie
"The important thing is to take part."
Famous words spoken by Pierre de Frdy, Baron de Coubertin during a speech. Howeve
r, this quote tends to be frequently misused and serves as kind of a threat to f
orce participation. There are tons of wild-goose chases in this world, y'know. I
f the most important thing is to take part, surely one could find meaning in not
taking part as well. And if everything's worth experiencing, then there's littl
e doubt that the feeling of not experiencing something is, in itself, worth expe
riencing.
In fact, you could even call it a valuable experience to not experience somethin
g everyone else does.
[...]
The festival after the festival has come to an end, and it's too late for anythi
ng now.
There are some things that can't be undone. But life goes on, regardless of whet
her you're laughing or crying, and your high school days will eventually draw to
a close.
And thus, their festival doesn't end.

WhyNot
"It's the participating that counts."
So said the father of the modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, during a s
peech. It's a widely known phrase, but it's often misused. It has become a sort
of threat to force participation. In this world, there are times when it's point
less to even go. If it's the participating that counts, then surely not particip
ating has meaning as well. If everything is an experience, then experience of no
t experiencing something must hold value.
In fact, it could even be called a valuable experience for those who do not expe
rience something.
[...]
And thus ends the festival after the festival. It's too late for anything else n
ow.
There are things that cannot be taken back. But the world will keep on spinning
whether you laugh or you cry. High school life will eventually end too.
And thus, their festival doesn't end.

OreGairu is an anime that usually make people think. In this list I gathered the
quotes that made me go, "He's definitely
right," or "That sounds legit," or "Nice logic you got."
That aside, I can see the author's fondness of naming the characters weirdly, si
nce the author's own name is like that:
Wataru Watari. So maybe that's the reason the character's names are like, Yukino
shita Yukino, Yuigahama Yui, Hayama
Hayato, Tsurumi Rumi, or Kawasaki Saki. Pretty hilarious, ne? Either way I'm rea
lly looking forward to a third season coz
the story is getting more interesting especially since the addition of a new fox
y female character. Hikki's still my fave, tho.
He's pretty unique in his own way. I like his usual habit of reading between the
lines.
Here goes my collection! Enjoy. (Note: I disclaim owning OreGairu and the quotes
I listed here.)
