Tetracycline

Tetracycline, also called Deschlorobiomycin, is a naphthalene(a volatile white

crystalline compound) antibiotic that discovered in the 1940s and is produced by the
Streptomyces genus of Actinobacteria (Gaillard, T., 2015). It s work by blocking the
incoming aminoacyl-tRNA from binding to the ribosome acceptor site during protein
synthesis. Therefor, the bacteria couldn t synthesis the protein which is essential to
them. Tetracycline is commonly used to treat a wide variety of infections caused by
bacteria such as skin, intestines, respiratory tract, acne, etc. (Tetracycline, 2017).

Application
Tetracyclines are broad-spectrum agents that actively work against both
gram-positive, gram-negative bacteria, and atypical organisms(colourless
bacteria). It is antimicrobials in the treatment of a number of infectious
diseases including acne, cholera, brucellosis, plague, syphilis, and malaria
(Tetracycline (Antibiotics), 2017). Moreover, the infection that causes by
contaminated food or infected animal may also treat by tetracycline.

Ance
A hormonal condition of the teenager which cause pimples on the
skin. Acne is treatable by antibiotic, tetracycline, which works by
lessening the inammation, swollen and redness of the skin. Acne can be
the presence again if the client stops the treatment (Knott, D. L., (n.d.)).
Cholera
A water diarrhoea caused by bacterium Vibrio cholera. People
may get infected from food or water contaminated. Antibiotic work by
reducing the duration of excretion which helps to shorten the period
of contagious (Antibiotics for treating cholera, 1970).
Brucellosis
A disease caused bacteria called Brucella that can be
transmitted to the human when contact with or consuming the product
of infected animals. (Brucella species (Brucellosis species, (n.d.)).

Plague
An infected disease caused by bacteria called Yersinia pestis.
A human being infected through the contact with rodent or ea. The
common symptoms are nausea and vomiting. Tetracycline caused
mortality of the plague (Rull, D. G., (n.d.)).
Syphilis
A sexual transmission diseased caused by Treponema palladium. People
get infected from syphilis sore. It is dangerous because in the primary stage
of syphilis doesn t show any symptom. Tetracycline will be used in case of
the patient are allergic to penicillin (Syphilis - CDC Fact Sheet, 2017).

Malaria
A blood disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. It is infected from
person to person by the bite of the mosquito. The symptom; ill, vomiting, the
fever will start to show from the rst week of infection. If the parasite resists
to the drug, they will adapt to anaemia which is much more danger and could
cause death. Tetracycline is what used to treat the antimalarial. The way that
its deal with bacteria hasn t been clearly studied (Gaillard, T, 2015).
Warning

Children age below eight

years should take this
medicine (Tetracycline).

It works best with the empty stomach

with 1-2 hours after the meal.

All pregnancy should avoid since it

may aect the foetus and cause
tooth discolouration.

Unnecessary or overused of
tetracycline may result in decreasing
eectiveness of the antibiotic.
Take all the dosage that the doctor
prescribes or else it cause a relapse of
the infection(Tetracycline - oral, n.d.).

Note :
Tetracycline can only treat bacteria
infection and will not work against any
viral organism that caused cold or u.
