Description of Proposed Activity:

I will be doing direct service for the RSPCA by foster caring dogs who have medical conditions and
who are in need of rehabilitation after they have undergone abuse by previous owners.

What challenges and/or new skills will this activity provide?

Skills - patience, management of time, support, resilience, communication, devotion, and

organisation
Challenges - socialisation (rehabilitation needing dogs), basic training, exercising, time and
treatment for the dogs needing medical attention.

What do you want to achieve from your participation in this activity?

I want to provide dogs with a temporary home to help them recover and be at their best potential
because every animal deserves to have a proper happy life and I want to ensure that as many
dogs as possible can be at their happiest and healthiest.
Smaller organisations work extremely hard with limited funding especially Rockys K9 Rescue
located in Canley Vale. They are in urgent need of support and therefore I have also decided to
foster care for this smaller organisation which also does great work for animals in need.

What evidence could be appropriate for this activity?

Emails, Forms sent by Rockys K9 rescue, photos of every dog with little personality files and
progression of their improvement, before and after photos, videos, inclusion of messages

Which learning outcomes may be appropriate to reflect on for this activity? (NB You do not have to meet
every outcome for each activity. All seven must be achieved over the duration of the CAS Program and before you are
signed off)

Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills, of
which some are more developed than others.

LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in
the process
A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one.
The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the student
has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established area.

LO3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

 Students can articulate the stages from conceiving an idea to executing a plan for a
CAS experience or series of CAS experiences. This may be accomplished in collaboration with
other participants. Students may show their knowledge and awareness by building on a
previous experience, or by launching a new idea or process.

LO4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
Students are able to identify, demonstrate and critically discuss the benefits and
challenges of collaboration gained through CAS experiences.
