original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express

your creative side.

Every time an individual asks me about my own creative side, or to be creative I think

about being creative as in art. Well now that I have grown up to be a junior my mindset has

changed and being creative not only has to deal with art. My junior teachers, Mr.Clark and

Mr.Suh has taught me that I can be creative in so many way.

One of the many ways they taught me to be creative is, to be creative with my writing.

For example, one of my works were I got really creative is my screenplay Mula. This is a

screenplay where you write your own movie basically. From getting creative with the opening

image, rising climax, and closing image. I wrote that story for someone close to me, writing

about his early life, to where hes at right now.

3
One of the many ways my junior teachers taught me to get creative is in math. I like

getting creative and trying different ways to solve the problem. Sometimes I actually do solve it

or fail but I never give up. Or else if I cant find another way to solve the problem I try to find a

way to solve the problem faster than usual, and usually most of the time I do find a faster way to

find the solution.

This is one of the many ways to get creative in school, it doesnt only have to be in art.

There is so many other ways to get creative in this world.

Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influenced you.

KEVINNNN ! is all you hear Mrs.Davis shouting across the whole room. Honestly , I

enjoy and love Mrs.Daviss class, even though the subject she teaches is easy and gets really

boring at times , but Mrs.Davis vibe really brightens up everyones day. I know a lot of people

might be surprised in me saying that this is my favorite class but, it truly is my favorite class. I

enjoy being in her class everyday and look forward to her class everyday.

The reason why math influences me is because its easy for me to understand the subject,

not only Mrs.Davis knows how to explain the subject that were learning, math is easy for me to

comprehend. Math has always been my favorite subject since elementary.

This class has influenced me in a lot of ways, but one major take away or lesson I got

from this class, is never let anyone underestimate you and the greatness in you. The reason why I

say is because multiple of people doubted me in this class, until one day Mrs.Davis

recommended me for AP Calculus for next year, I was happy and proud about myself because I

proved everyone wrong. Mrs.Davis really had hope in me and believe in me that I can do this. I

really enjoy Mrs.Davis believing in me and supporting me taking bigger tasks. Another way this

class has influenced me is always being happy and appreciate the little things a person does to

you. I say this because Mrs.Davis EVERYDAY, is outside greeting everyone and asking how

their day is going with a good vibe and a really big smile, it really brightens up my days because

not every teacher in this school does that. This is two of the many ways this class influences me.

5
Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced

others, helped resolve disputes or contributed to group efforts over time.

They is so many different ways in life that leads or makes you a leader. You can be the

leader or captain for a soccer team, leader for a group or activity, and another way is a leader in

the class, theyre always making decisions for the class, the stand out in the classroom and so on

and so on. But my type of leadership, evolves around my family.

The leadership of mine is taken place in my family. I help out my mom around with the

house and the things she need, and if my little sister is acting up I help my mom out with that

too. But its not only me that helps out my mom in the house, its also my older brother and my

little sister too. But Im usually the first one to go. I feel like this a type of leadership because

Im taking responsibility in the house for my mom.

Even sometimes that I get irritated that shes always picking on me, I understand her. Its not

always easy to be in the situation that shes in. So at the end of the day I dont mind helping out

my mom, because on the long run shes the one helping me with the things I need like a roof

over my head, clothes on my back, food on my plate, and most importantly my education here at

Gompers Preparatory Academy.

6
Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to

overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?

I remember my mom as a child. Every morning I would wake up to her enormous smile. It

seemed to be beaming at me like the sun. We would go to the kitchen and have breakfast

together every morning, but around the age of five everything changed. My mother was pregnant

with my youngest brother, everything seemed to be perfect until she went into labor. As the

doctor injected her with the epidural, something didnt feel right. About a week later, she felt

strange. We went back to the hospital and on that day she lost her ability to walk.

As I a five year old, I didnt know how to react. A lot of questions ran through my head. Would

my mom ever be able to walk again? The focus of our family had to change, rather than thinking

about myself I had to begin thinking of how I was going to support my mother and also support

myself. At first it was hard to adjust. I wasnt use to having all the responsibilities. For a while I

stopped going to go school and fell behind.

Until I was in the 4th grade, I struggled adjusting, but luckily my abuela was there to support me

and help me transition during this time. From signing me up for elementary to feeding me

everyday, basically my second mother. Through this challenge I have become more independent,

responsible, and most importantly grateful for the things I have and the people supporting me.

Despite this continual challenge, I overcome this everyday, and rather than seeing my mother as

7
a burden, I find eternal gratitude and see her as a role model as an individual who never gives

up.
