Teen Pregnancy
An 18-year-old female that you have known for a long time tells you that she is

pregnant and wants to know if she should marry the babys father. I would try and

explain to her the consequences a child has on a teenager and how this could not only

ruin her life but the babies life as well, and would highly support adoption or worst case

scenario abortion. However, it's not that simple.

Depending on her life situation my advice would vary depending on economic and

relationship status. I would not advise marriage to someone whom she has only know a

little while. But if she was economically stable and her relationship was stable and long

lasting then I would support the baby. That is assuming she is not going to put the child

up for adoption, which I think would be best. My advice would not vary much between

gender, your relationship and economic status are either ready or it isnt. Like stated in

the book The Marriage and Family Experience on page 75 table 3.1 the average age

of marriage for males is 28.7 and females is 26.5 and this is because that is the point in

their life when they are ready to live and raise a family together. If on a rare occasion the

couple is ready and will not consider adoption I support the child. If I see the child being

a barren too much on the couples relationship or economic statues I would not support

raising the child themselves.
