Google & NEST DATA IMPORTER for AmiBroker & MetaStock a Software from Stock

Disclaimer ::

Backfill data is retrieved from Google Finance server and Live data is retrieved from
Google Finance & NEST. So for any discrepancies in data quality , delay in data or not
availability of data for some time , Stock Live is not responsible .

2. Tutorial
Though we have designed this software so simpler so that that user doesnt need help
document to know how to use it but it still some users are comfortable in first going
through the user manual and then shift to the software .

Here are some description about some basic operations you can do with the different
controls on this software ::

Creating STOCK LIST

Data will be imported to Amibroker or MetaStock only for Nifty and checked stocks in
the list. NIFTY is already added in background , so you dont need to add it in the list.

a) Adding a stock
This button adds a Stock in the Data Importer stock list . In the Add Stock
Dialog, you need to enter NSE Stock Name.

We can add here Google Code/Symbol for this stock in CAPITAL letters without
starting with NSE: . This is must for getting live data for live refreshing
Amibroker chart . If you are not sure about the exact Google code, you can
launch Google finance website by clicking Find Google Code here button and
find the same at this website .

Now , you can add this stock by clicking on Ok . The newly added stock is by
default checked . You have additional option here to add FnO & MCX stocks
here .

Note : The stocks added this way are added in the data importer softwares data
base only and not in the AmiBroker Symbol list . To add the stock also in
AmiBroker , you need to just click on ADD STOCKS or SYNCHRONIZE
button .

b) Deleting a stock
This button deletes the checked Stocks from the stock list of data importer only.
If you want to delete the same stocks also from AmiBroker s symbol list , you
need to just click on SYNCHRONIZE button .

c) Importing/Exporting Stock List

You can import and export your stock list to a text file with *.stl ( stock list ) .
Each stock entry is of CSV ( comma separated value) format .

Importing your stock list : You can create a text file with extension *.stl and
have entries like this :

ICICI Bank,ICICIBANK,ICICIBANK,0,1
Yes Bank,YESBANK,YESBANK,0,1
ACC14SEPFUT,ACC14SEPFUT,ACC14SEPFUT,1,1
ZINC14SEPFUT,ZINC14SEPFUT,ZINC14SEPFUT,2,1
--- and so on ---

Here, first entry is Stock Name , second entry is Google Code or unique Symbol
you want in AmiBroker or MetaStock chart for that stock , third entry is for
exchange ( 0 = NSE, 1= NFO & 2 = MCX ) and fourth entry is whether stock has
to be selected(checked) in the Data Importer or not i.e. 1 means checked and 0
means unchecked.

You can always use original installed stock list by importing

C:\StockLiveDI\InstalledStocklist\distocklist.stl . So , whenever you are messed
up with your stock list , you can go in this path and import the installed stock list .

Exporting the stock list : You can save your stock list for safety purpose and
use it anytime by importing .

IMPORTANT :: If you want to move your stock list from the old stocklist.mdb file
to this version of Data Importer , you need to copy all columns from
SELECTEDSTOCKLIST table and paste in an Excel file . Then remove the
INDEXNAME column and first row. Now just save the file as CSV file type and
rename the extension of that file to ".stl". Now just import this file in Data
Importer and you are done .

Get BACKFILL DATA from Google

Data can be backfilled in AmiBroker or can be downloaded as MetaStock database files

. At the moment , you have only one option of data source here : Google Finance ..

d) Backfill with 1-min Data

This button is used to back fill in AmiBroker OR download MetaStock database
files in C:\StockLiveDI\MetaStock\TICKDATA folder for Checked stocks in Data
Importers stock list with 1-min data for last 15 days data from Google Finance .
If you use this during market hours , you may get data for the period from 9:15
AM to the current time of that day.

Note :: Metastock users should open the Database from the path mentioned
after Backfill is complete .

e) Backfill with 5-min Data

This button is used to back fill in AmiBroker OR download MetaStock database

files in C:\StockLiveDI\MetaStock\TICKDATA folder for Checked stocks in Data
Importers stock list with 5-min data for last 60 days from Google Finance . If
you use this during market hours , you may get data for last Four days & data for
the period from 9:15 AM to the current time of that day.

Note :: Metastock users should open the Database from the path mentioned
after Backfill is complete .

f) Backfill with EOD data

This button is used to back fill in Amibroker OR download as MetaStock
database files in C:\StockLiveDI\MetaStock\EOD folder for Checked stocks in
Data Importers stock list with EOD data for last 10 years from Google Finance .

Note :: Dont forget to Add or Synchronize Stocks to AmiBroker before using this
button if you have recently added/checked some stocks in Data Importer s
stocks list for data feeding . Metastock users should open the Database from the
path mentioned after Backfill is complete .

g) Backfill with Hourly Data

This button is used to back fill in AmiBroker OR download MetaStock database
files in C:\StockLiveDI\ MetaStock\TICKDATA folder for Checked stocks in Data
Importers stock list with hourly data for last 15 days from Google Finance . If
you use this during market hours , you may get data for last Four days & data for
the period from 9:15 AM to the current time of that day.

Note :: Metastock users should open the Database from the path mentioned
after Backfill is complete .

h) Delete Data from AmiBroker/MetaStock Data folders

This button deletes all data or data between precisely selected dates from
AmiBrokers current database/ MetaStock data folders ( TICKDATA & EOD
folders) . Use this with caution . After Delete All , your database will be ready
for all new start with Data Importer .

i) Stop Backfill before completion

You can stop by clicking this button during anytime Backfill is running . During
this time backfilling will be done for only few from all the selected stocks .

Get BACKFILL DATA from NEST

j) How to feed Backfill data from NEST in AmiBroker

Make sure that your NEST Trader is running like following screen .

Select any stock , right click and click on Data Table like below ( for this NEST
Plus Plugin must be installed from http://brokerage-
free.in/images/dowload_files/zerodha/softwares/NestChart2.9.3.0.zip )

If before showing data table , it may ask you to login via your Nest Plus ID.
Please do it as it is required in one session .

It may also give message to restart Plug-in which you do by Ctrl+Shift+P and
Refresh .

Data table will be launched like this .

Note down the time it was needed from Clicking on Data Table & Launching Data Table
window . This time depends upon NEST server load & your internet speed . Choose the
appropriate time equivalent to above in Delay in Data Table setting of Data Importer .

No of Stocks is setting to select number of stocks from the top of the list in NEST
Trader which you want to get Backfill data for .

Now just Click on 1-MIN or EOD button and sit back . All backfill data for that many
stocks will be downloaded directly into your AmiBroker . Some UI automation will
start , DONT click on Key on Mouse unless Backfill is finished .

MetaStock support for Backfill from NEST Trader is still to be added in the current
release of Data Importer . Backfill data will be generated like the following screen.

Get LIVE DATA from Google

k) Real Time Data Feeding from Google

This set of controls are used for Real Time data feeding to AmiBroker &
MetaStock from Google Finance. It feeds data to AmiBroker & MetaStock for
the Checked Stocks in Stock List .
Select Chart Refresh Rate after deciding your system configuration and internet
speed . If you observe that closing time of one candle not matching with
opening time of next candle , this means that either your internet speed is slow or
Google Finance server is not giving faster response . In this case , you should
choose more time as Chart Refresh interval .
Lower the system configuration and internet system , you should choose higher
refresh rate. By default the selection is 5 sec.

You should choose chart refresh rate wisely in tune with number of Stocks
selected for Live data feeding , Google finance server response and your internet
speed. For a Broadband connection with 2 MBPS or more speed , normally
following rules should be followed while selecting refresh rate :

Number of selected stocks Refresh Rate

1 to 5 1 Sec
6 to 20 2 Secs
21 to 50 5 Secs
50-200 10 Secs
200-500 20 Secs

Once you start Live Data feeding with Google as data source , Live Data Update
window also pops up to show you real time values of the stocks selected for data
feeding .

Get LIVE DATA from NEST

l) How to feed Live Data from NEST
Make sure that your NEST Trader is running with all the stocks added in NEST
Traders watchlist ( NSE, FNO or MCX ) which you want to feed live data for (
NSE Cash.

While NEST & AmiBroker are in connection mode , select refresh rate . Again ,
make sure that the stocks added in Data Importer for live data are also added in
NEST software in the watch list otherwise data will not be imported .

Click on Start Live Data button and your data will be started to get imported in
AmiBroker or MetaStock.

Other Operations

m) Operations on Stock List

Here Select All checks all stocks in Stock List . Nifty is not included in this
operation . NIFTY is already added in background , so you dont need to add it
in the list.

Note :: Dont forget to Add or Synchronize Stocks to AmiBroker before using this
button if you have recently added/checked some stocks in Data Importer s
stocks list for data feeding .

n) Registration of Data Importer

You need to click on the About button located at the top

If your software is not licensed , following button will appear :

You can license your copy of software by buyig from this link . After buying , you
need to send the REGISTRATION CODE to stocklive2008@gmail.com.

o) Message from Stock Live

At the bottom of the software , you can see a scrolling message in white color.
This message comes from Stock Live to keep you updated about the software or
any message particularly sent to you.

p) Setting up separate database in AmiBroker for Data

Importer
Though Data Fdder will work on your existing database but to just preserve you
older database and starting all new with Stock Live Data Importer , you can
create a separate database exclusively for Data Importer by following simple
steps :

Open C:\StockLiveDI\AmiBrokerDB
Extract ExtractHere.ZIP file in the same folder
Open AmiBroker
File Menu > Open Database > Choose C:\StockLiveDI\AmiBrokerDB and
click on OK

If you want that by default this database should open every time you open
AmiBroker , after above mentioned operations do following :

AmiBroker > Tools > Preferences > Data Tab

Then in Default Database path choose Current .

q) Opening MetaStock Database Files

After generating Backfill data for MetaStock ,
Go to File > Open in MetaStock Professional Offline Mode

Then select all the files you want to view in the charts :

r) How to use Live data feed with MetaStock

You need to choose a Backfill option other than EOD.
Do backfill with MetaStock option chosen on Data Importer.
Open this MetaStock database files from the location mentioned after
generating data. Charts will be shown for all the stocks chosen to open .
Launch MetaStock Refresher and click on Start . You can fine tune the
settings w.r.t. your comfort level . Chose the refresh interval same as refresh
interval set in the Data Importer .

Start Live Data feeding from Data Importer now . MetaStock charts will start
refreshing now .
