Chemist

What is a chemist? A chemist is a scientist that was trained in the

study of chemistry. Chemists study the composition of matter and its

properties. The Chemists also carefully describe the properties they

study in terms of quantities, with detail on the level of molecules and

their component atoms. You may wonder what the yearly salary of a

chemist is. The median annual Chemist I salary is $54,968 dollars, it is

a range usually between $48,078-$63,454 dollars. To be a chemist you

must have a bachelor degree, a graduate degree and a major in

chemistry. You will need to do these courses to become a chemist; a

major in chemistry, Analytical Geometry and Calculus I and II,

Analytical Geometry and Calculus III, Basic Physics for Science and

Engineering I and II, Basic Laboratory Physics for Science and

Engineering.

The reason I chose chemistry and to be a chemist is because the work

of chemists is challenging, exciting, rewarding and fun! Having a

chemistry degree in hand can open many opportunities down your

lifeline. Chemists produce everything from plastics and paints to

pharmaceuticals, foods, flavors, fragrances, detergents, and cosmetics.

Chemistry graduates are well prepared for medical, veterinarian,

dentistry, nursing, podiatry, optometry, or pharmacy school. I would

prefer to work in a laboratory of some sort of Laboratory Technician.

Also some chemists also work as business owners, technical librarians,

consultants, art conservators, or even investment bankers. When

choosing this field in education there is a high possibility you might

work as a teacher in high school, a professor in college, or researcher

in a university. Chemists can be doctors, inventing drugs and materials

for medical implants. Chemists can be architects, designing materials

that can confer resilience, strength and aesthetic shapes to building

materials.

Some more information on Chemists, they can be physicists,

calculating structures of molecules using quantum mechanics and

shining lasers on them to interrogate their properties. Chemists can be

astronomers, literally studying star stuff. Chemists can be climate and

energy scientists, studying the impact of climate change on the carbon

cycle and developing new materials for solar capture. Chemists can be

biologists, probing the fundamental basis of life and its origins.

Chemists can be chefs and more.

A day in the life of a laboratory technician would be basically collecting

samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other

substances. Through out the day I would be most likely testing stuff

and trying stuff to make new things.

Kirk Little

I would most likely be working in Cary, NC because thats the closest

laboratory that is offering laboratory technicians. Laboratory

technicians when called in work an amount of 24 hours all day.
