3rd Grading Reading Summative Assessment Results: May 2017

The Mississippi State Board of Education, the Mississippi Department of Education, the
Mississippi School for the Arts, the Mississippi School for the Blind, the Mississippi School
for the Deaf, and the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science do not discriminate on

The standards validation was necessary because a new assessment administered for the first time
in 20152016 (i.e., reading and language items from the 3rd Grade MAP ELA Assessment) is
being used to meet the requirements of the Mississippi Literacy-Based Promotion Act (SB2347),
creating the need for a review of the Performance Level 2 and Performance Level 3 cut scores.
