Jeddah,SaudiArabia.Sheisanauthorandresearcherwhohaspublishedarticlesabout
topicssuchasprivatizationandwomenempowerment.AlLailwasawardedthe
DistinguishedArabianWomanAwardin2005andwasawinnerofthe1000Womenfor
theNobelPeacePrizeinthesameyear.ASaudiArabianative,AlLailearnedherPh.D.
inPublicPolicyfromtheUniversityofSouthernCalifornia.
BeforejoiningEffatUniversityin1998,AlLailwasthefirstDeanofGirlsCampusin
KingAbdulazizUniversityinJeddah,SaudiArabia.ShealsoparticipatedintheSummer
InstituteforWomeninHigherEducationAdministrationatBryanMawrCollegein2000.
AlLailwillbespeakingaboutherexperiencesatEffatUniversityandwhatledher
passionofresearchingwomenempowermentacrosstheworld.Shewillalsotake
questionsfromtheaudienceaboutherstudies.

GlobalEducation(OGE)andwilltakeplaceNovember1418.Theweeklong
celebrationfeaturesexhibitions,lectures,presentationsandconcertscenteredaround
internationalculture.InternationalEducationWeekisajointinitiativeoftheU.S.
DepartmentsofStateandEducationwiththeobjectivetoeducatestudents,domesticand
international,onhowtosucceedinanincreasinglyglobalizedworld.
OGEishometomultipleprogramsrangingfromassistinginternationalstudentsstudying
atKentStatetoeducationabroad.OGEsmissionistointernationalizetheKentState
Universityexperienceforthebenefitofallstudents,faculty,andstaff.Approximately
2,500internationalstudentsfrommorethan100countriesacrosstheworldareenrolledat
KentState.OGEoffersassistancewithapplying,logistics,scholarshipsandmost
importantly,makingstudentsfeelathomeatKentStateeverystepoftheway.
