Course Description: The primary content emphasis for this course pertains
to the study of the concepts and processes of the national and international
economic systems. Content will include currency, banking, and monetary
policy, the fundamental concepts relevant to the major economic systems,
the global market and economy, major economic theories and economists,
the role and influence of the government and fiscal policies, economic
measurements, tools, and methodology, financial and investment markets,
and the business cycle.

Assignments/ Activities:
Note taking, active listening & feedback.
Group Work including research (you will be able to use your smart phone,
tablet, or laptop to complete research in class as part of your
assignments). If you do not have an internet capable device you will be
required to work with a partner.
Reading Articles, interpreting, analyzing, compare & contract, cause &
effect.
Presentations & Quarterly Projects (details coming soon).
Extra credit opportunities may arise throughout the year.

Make-up Work Policy: It is the responsibility of the student to manage his or her make-
up work (getting the assignments, taking the make-up tests, etc.). Do not expect your teacher to
automatically inform you and schedule your make-up work. Make-up work may be required by
accessing a teacher website. Tests must be arranged to be made up with the teacher.

Assessments:
Classroom Tests, Quizzes
Binder checks, research, etc.
Grades will reflect students ability and willingness to follow protocol. Tests will usually
have one or two weeks notice. Typically, tests are 100 points. Quizzes generally have
advanced notice as well. We will follow Polk county schools grading scale:
A=90-100 B=80-89 C=70-79 D=60-69 F=59 or less
*Students will be expected to study a minimum of fifteen minutes per night.
*Previous notes/tests also require student review once or twice monthly.
*Tutoring is available by appointment and may require multiple students participation.

Discipline:
If a student is not acting appropriately in accordance with the student
handbook, school policy, class rules, and common sense, the student will
first receive a verbal warning. Further consequences will be based on the
teachers discretion.
