3.1GeometricalMeshQuality
Wellshapedelementsareespeciallyimportantforfiniteelementmethods.Certaingeometricalqualitymeasuresandratioscanbedefinedtoevaluatetheshape
ofanelement.Suchpurelygeometricalcriterialeadbynaturetoanisotropicmeshdensitydistribution.Theyareimplementedwithouttheknowledgeofthe
physicalproblemathand.VarioustypesofnotsowellshapedelementsaredepictedinFig.3.1.
