Dear Fellow Educator,

It is with extreme pleasure that I recommend Anna Gonzalez for a teaching position at your institution. Anna
has been my intern for the entire 2016-17 school year. She currently teaches three sections of Spanish 1 for 8th
graders, a class for which students receive high school credit upon passing the class. She began the school
year by observing the routines of our class, then took on the planning of classes and has executed them very
effectively, including grading, recording grades electronically, and planning and evaluating all activities and
assessments in these classes. Since Scarlett Middle School is also an International Baccalaureate World
School Candidate, she has also learned a great deal about the functioning of an IB school.

In addition to having knowledge of the Spanish language, Spanish culture, and other cultures of the
Spanish-speaking world, Anna is also creative, sincere, hard-working, reflective and a person who shows
genuine care and concern for her students and their growth. Most notably, Anna takes many activities that I
have created and makes them neater and clearer. She has a very keen ability to organize activities, hand-outs,
tests, rubrics, and any directions in a way that is easy for students to understand.

I also admire the way Anna relates to the students on a personal level, yet always maintains with them a level
of professionalism that makes it clear her role as a mentor and facilitator. In her time at Scarlett she has been
excited to participate in activities such as chaperoning field trips and attending students sporting events and
concerts. She has also taken a lot of her personal time at lunch and after school to tutor students on an
individual basis. She has enjoyed her work her so much that she really would like to stay and become part of
our school community. As she has attended collaborative meetings with the world language (language
acquisition) department on a daily basis and contributed helpfully to our planning, we would also be so happy
if she were to continue working at our school. For this reason I am certain any school community would be
pleased to have Anna working with them. With her dedication, attention to details, pride in her work, and
willingness to become part of the school community, Anna definitely has a bright future ahead of her in
teaching. I hope you can give her this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Laura Hovey Ozuna
