1. Abstract
This report provides footstep of our project for Final Year Project, EK2250.Our project
was given as an option by Mr. Laxamanan, as our previous options were rejected
due to lack of resources. Mr. Laxamanan, as the supervisor, has supplied us with
references and gave us advises on the project. Upon completion of this project, we
will be able to enhance our hand skills and learn how to deal with problem. Our
project consist of avionics equipment bonding. As deliverable, we can offer our
future juniors chance to practice various skills on the trainer assembly. We have
finished around 85% of required work. This is mainly due to extension of work,
which we initially planned to work on 2 stands only, but we were later instructed to
work on all 4 stands. As our work was doubled, we had to put in extra time to finish
this project. Even though we came for extra slots we managed to finish torque
loading trainer assembly and sealant trainer assembly only. This was our initial aim,
as the project title indicates. Two remaining stand are supposed to be fit with wire
locking trainer and combination trainer. They are pending with application of
primers and paint, and attachment of components. For this project, we were
required to prove our ability in designing skills, measurements skills, hand skills and
communication. As our job was to produce different types of trainer assemblies, we
had to come out with precise measurements according to the design. On top of it,
we were required to shape them into wanted shape, with minimum error. For this,
our hand skill on tools were tested. We used various technique as: filing, drilling,
sawing, riveting and bending and cutting of metal. Although we could not finish the
whole project in time, we have achieved initial aim and we are on plan to finish the
rest of them after the submission. This project gave us great chance to test and
strengthen our hand skills and taught us how to do stuffs efficiently.

2. Introduction

The important thing in any training is to offer knowledge in a motivating way

and to ensure long-term retention. Learning aircraft engineering concepts
should be unified by doing and an interactive learning system with a whole
new dimension of functionality is preferred. New technologies have played a
big role towards the achievement of this new engineering training concept.
In order to ensure equipment to functions well, both equipment users and
the equipment maintenance and repair team must be trained. Users must be
trained in basic care and maintenance of equipment, and the equipment
team must be trained to undertake repairs and more complex maintenance
tasks.
The primary responsibility for the care and maintenance of equipment rests
with the user. Users should understand how their equipment works, what its
limitations are, and what it can and cannot do. All of these are usually well
described in the user manual that is supplied by the equipment

manufacturer or supplier. It is important that users read and understand the
user manual and keep it in a safe place.

3. Aim

Our primary purpose behind this project is to allow our future students to
understand the importance of the bonding in any aircrafts. In this way when
they go to industry they will be able to perform well, will bring them more
out looking than the rest.

4. Deliverables

Modify a training stand to allow students learn the necessary skills and to
gain experience on torque loading, sealant application and practices on wire
locking.

5. Key Milestone

A project milestone is observed, measured and monitored the progress of a

project. The primary intermediate stages that must be fulfilled before
reaching a final goal or objective. In terms of their usefulness. The list of task
will be further explained from graphical and diagram aid. They can also serve
as proof for explaining and reporting the status of a project.

6. Benefits

Starting from the fact that the use of various training aids is important for the
aircraft engineering students, lecturers continuously face the need for the most
frequent use of these aids. More explicitly, training aids are interactive, course-
specific problem-solving sessions. Training aids meet each week to tackle rigorous
material designed to build conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.
These training stands will give the students good experience on their practical tasks
and also when it comes to university audit, the personnel who are in charge will look
into these training stands which university provides to the students.

7. Objectives

Understand the project

Before staring anything on the project, the most essential thing is to
understand the project. By going through discussion and meeting, our group
members are expected to gain full understanding on the project, which will
help when it comes to execution stage.

Learning about designing.

What matters the most in the project is the contents. We are modifying the
trainer stand to allow our future juniors to practice hand skill on it. For this to
be possible, we should provide several practices and resources. So, design of
stand matters, and we must be very keen so that necessary resources are
provided. By designing the stand, we are also expected to grow our
measurement skills, together with designing skills which might be useful for
future.

Obtain raw materials needed.

Next step is to get raw materials. We are expected to obtain raw materials
on our own, which includes sheet of aluminum (which is preferred due to
cost) or thin sheet of stainless steel to build components.

Practice on hand skills.

Once materials are obtained, we should work on them to shape them into
what we need. Here, we will be again tested on our hand skills, where we will
have to various tools to shape them.

Produce deliverable and report

At the end of this project, our group members must be able to produce
deliverable and detailed report on job done.

10. Time Analysis

As Oct 2016 semester is short semester and we lost 1 week (8hrs) on bench fitting

project, we are only left with 1 month (32hrs). As time is limited, we must be very

keen in time management and follow the project plan to prevent any delay.

11. Progress

As soon as we got advice from Mr.Karamjit, we discussed on this project. Our

proposal is ready, and with this project plan, we should have no problem in

managing time and overall construction of our project.

12. Discussion and Conclusion

After our previous proposal on building exhaust of Beechjet 400A has been rejected, we
consulted Mr.Karamjit for help. We were given option to take this project, modification of torque
loading and sealant trainer stand, and our entire member had agreed upon it. Thereafter, we
discussed on this project, about flow and contents. For this project, we are expected to modify
the trainer stand
