Cancer support
Motibhai Group performs another kind act
FIVE cents from every packet
of Bushells tea sold will be do-
nated to the Fiji Cancer Society
(FCS) beginning from May 1 to
September 30, 2017.
The Motibhai Group has in-
troduced yet another fundraising
initiative in addition to its Bush-
ells Fijis Biggest Morning Tea
campaign.
Motibhai Group marketing
manager Abraham Gomes said
the company estimated that total
funds raised would be in excess
of $30,000, which will go direct-
ly towards Fiji Cancer Societys
programs and activities.
Mr Gomes said the new ini-
tiative further strengthened their
already-strong partnership and fi-
nancial commitment to Fiji Can-
cer and support of its advocacy
and client care programs.
Fiji Cancer Societys board
chairperson Phillip Low said the
society was thankful to the Mo-
tibhai Group for this initiative
and that innovative contributions
like this allowed the society to
expand its reach and take its com-
munity and screening programs
even further.
He said over the last three

as a huge success.
Our association with Peregrine Wines which Julia is repre-
senting today goes back to 2008 with the first order of 25 cases
containing five different variants placed on May 2009, Motibhai
Group director Bhupendra Patel said.
It is also enlightening to note that Sheraton Fiji was the first
customer to list Peregrine Wines in Fiji that resulted in our initial
order, Mr Patel added.
It is also interesting to note that Peregrine Wines and Motibhai
Group have a lot of similarities. Both are family owned businesses
and the passion of doing business with like-minded people there-
fore goes to greater altitudes.
Taking a 'hands on' approach to winemaking since 1998, the
McLachlan family which owns Peregrine Wines strives to produce
wines that embody the absolute best of Central Otago.
Meanwhile, while on her short trip, Ms Gillon also conducted
training sessions at various resorts in Nadi and with staff of Motib-
hai Group at the head-office as well.
The knowledge gained from the training sessions will go a
along way in promoting Peregrine Wines in Fiji, Motibhai Group
manager hospitality sales Nitesh Chand said.
Being a boutique wine, Peregrine is only available through
listed resorts and we are delighted to be their local distributors.

A hero in our midst

The entire management and staff of Motibhai Group based at the
head-office are proud that one such unsung hero is in our midst.
Meet Horish Gounder, 26, an accounts clerk at Motibhai Group.
Last month, Gounder risked his own life to save his neighbour from
a raging fire incident which left the Nadi family homeless.
According to media reports, Gounder saw smoke and heard a wom-
ans screams while he was sitting under a tree. He then ran towards
the back and forced open the door, dashed into the house where his
neighbours wife was and tried to put out the flames.
He said: I heard a woman screaming and my sixth sense told me
something wasnt right after I saw dark smoke.
I wasnt even wearing my shoes. I ran into their house and headed
towards my neighbour who was fetching water from the tap from the
sink in an effort to douse off the fire.
I grabbed her hand and took her out of the house. If we had missed
by a few minutes, we would have been trapped at the back with smoke
and heat.
I wanted to remove their car as well but the keys were placed
somewhere in the house which was already on fire.
Mr Gounder said things happened so fast that he was almost left
baffled but he is happy that a life has been saved.
I acted on human instincts and anyone else would have done the
same. I thank God who chose me for such a noble act.
The entire management and staff of Motibhai Group commends
Gounder on his heroic act and wishes for his quick recovery from the
minor injuries sustained.

Awards?
RS - I feel very proud and honoured in representing Motibhai Group of
Companies in WIB. This was the second time I made into the top 3 fi-
nalists, first was in 2015 and again this year. It is a very good network-
ing tool that allows me to showcase the Motibhai Group standards. I
feel honoured to be selected in the finals by the independent judges of
WIB. These are judges from different fields of work and for them to
select me as one of the finalists out of the many applicants, I feel that I
can grow the team of women leaders in our company as well by men-
toring them and setting good examples.
INBOX - What was the experience like?
RS - This was a life time experience for me. The theme for this year
was Pearls of Success which symbolises wisdom acquired through
success. There are many women in roles such as middle managers but
there is also a need to have more women at the top level in decision
and policy making roles. This will create an enabling environment for
women to rise to higher levels within organisations and no doubt this Prouds retail manageress Reshmi Singh, right, with fellow colleague
