Inspection and/or modifications described below are mandatory. No person may operate a product to which this
Airworthiness Directive applies except in accordance with the requirements of this Airworthiness Directive.

ATR 42 aircraft

Pitch trim controls

This Airworthiness Directive concerns ATR 42, series 200 and 300, aircraft, all serial numbers on which
modification ATR 3853 has not been embodied.

In order to restore the routing segregation between the mechanical pitch controls and :

- the normal electric pitch trim controls on one hand, and

- the pitch trim dissymmetry monitoring on the other,

the following actions are made mandatory on the date of enforcement of this Airworthiness Directive :

A) For aircraft on which modifications ATR 1403 (or Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0017) and ATR 3668 (or
Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0066) have not been embodied :

- Before January 01, 1995, perform Part. A of Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0069.

B) For aircraft on which modification ATR 1403 (or Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0017) has not been
embodied, but on which modification ATR 3668 (or Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0066) has been
embodied :

- Before January 01, 1995, perform Part. A of Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0068.

C) For aircraft on which modification ATR 1403 (or Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0017) has been
embodied but on which modification ATR 3668 (or Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0066) has not been
embodied :

- Before January 01, 1995, perform Part. B of Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0069.

D) For aircraft on which modifications ATR 1403 (or Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0017) and ATR 3668 (or
Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0066) have been embodied :

- Before January 01, 1995, perform Part. B of Service Bulletin ATR 42-27-0068.

This Airworthiness Directive supersedes Airworthiness Directive N 93-117-050(B).
