Air Travel is the Safest and Fastest Means of Transportation
The Air Transport industry plays a major role in
world economic activity.
The process of getting an Aircraft Safely and
Efficiently to its destination depends on three functions of Air Navigation: Communication, Visual Aids(Airfield Ground Lighting) and Surveillance.

TERMINOLOGY AERODROME VS AIRPORT AERONAUTICAL VS AIRFIELD
AERODROME A defined area on land (including any buildings,
installations and equipment) intended to be used either wholly or in part for the arrival, departure and surface movement of aircraft.
AERONAUTICAL GROUND LIGHTING Any light specially provided
as an aid to air navigation, other than a light displayed on an aircraft. System is the generic term used to describe the various lighting system that are provided on an aerodrome for the guidance of pilots operating aircraft both at night and in low visibility condition.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS/REGULATIONS ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization
An agency of the United Nations, codifies the principles and techniques
of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth. Its headquarters are located in the Quartier International of Montreal, Canada. The ICAO Council adopts standards and recommended practices concerning air navigation, prevention of unlawful interference, and facilitation of border-crossing procedures for international civil aviation. In addition, the ICAO defines the protocols for air accident investigation followed by transport safety authorities in countries signatory to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, commonly known as the Chicago Convention.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS/REGULATIONS ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization
The Standard and Recommended Practices for Aerodrome were first
adopted by the Council on 29 May 1951 pursuant to the provisions of Article 37 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago 1944) and Designated as Annex 14 to the Convention. The Standards and Recommended Practices were based on recommendations of the Aerodromes, Air Routes and Ground Aids Division at its 3rd session in Sept. 1947 and at its 4th session in Nov 1949.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS/REGULATIONS FAA http://www.faa.gov/
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the element of the U.S.
government with primary responsibility for the safety of civil aviation. The FAA was originally designated the Federal Aviation Agency when established by the Federal Aviation Act of 1958.The present name was adopted in 1967 when the FAA became a component of the Department of Transportation. The FAAs major functions include: regulating civil aviation to promote safety and fulfill the requirements of national defense encouraging and developing civil aeronautics, including new aviation technology developing and operating a common system of air traffic control and navigation for both civil and military aircraft research and development with respect to the National Airspace System and civil aeronautics developing and implementing programs to control aircraft noise and other environmental effects of civil aviation regulating U.S. commercial space transportation 2015 by Honeywell International Inc. One main focus of the FAA is the publishing of
the so called Advisory Circulars
These Circulars describe standards for design, installation,
maintenance, test procedures, lists of suppliers
