Lesson Aims:
creating interest in the topic of the lesson;
promoting discussion and expressing opinions on reading;
developing speaking and practising the new words;
fostering fluency.

Activity 1. Warming up
Aim: increasing Ss interest in the topic.
Procedure: T-ST, ST-T; 7 min
T asks Ss to tell if they like reading;
Ss express opinions on reading and justify them;
T helps when necessary.

Activity 2. Speaking
Aim: expressing opinions freely on the topic.
Procedure: T-ST, ST-T; 15 min
T asks Ss to speak about their favourite books;

Aim: developing speaking skills and using vocabulary in context.
Procedure: PW; 13 min
Ss work in pairs to fill in the blank spaces indicated, choosing from the list on the right (Ex.
II/121). T helps when necessary;
T checks the activity with the whole class;
Ss work in pairs to match the type of book with the picture, using the chart (Ex. III/121). T
helps when necessary;
T checks the activity with the whole class.

Activity 5. Homework (Ex. 2/122)


Aim: improving Ss ability of writing a paragraph.
Procedure: T ST; 5 min
T asks Ss to write a paragraph about the book that has enriched their minds most, telling how
many times they have read it.
