Let me be clear the experience you described ofa former student ie not acceptable. t pains me ta hear of ary child who does not feel safe and supported inthe classroom, However, itstekes me as equally unacceptable that you attempt to malign East Hartford Public Schools asanillustraton of al thats broken in pubic education. n realty, this school community sets itself apart as an example of what we can accomplish working together to deliver on the promise public ‘education holds for al our students. Ensuring that ol children, regardless of rp code or if circumstance, have equitable access toa high- ‘quality education hasbeen both atop policy and budgetary piety for my administration. When other states were cutting education funding, we directed hundreds of milions of dollars to our highest-need dlstriets and students, while alo increasing accountability n 2012, our state implemented bold ‘educational reforms to create a more equitable education system and to improve outcomes forall ‘students, Because of our investments and reforms, we ae begining to see tremendous results, ‘We raised the bar fr what students should know and be able to do by adopting more rigorous college- _and-career ready standard, We are combatting the school t-prson pipeline by investing in proven
