RT. HON. GREG HANDS M.P., CHELSEA & FULHAM HOUSE OF COMMONS LONDON SWIA 0AA Mr Jon Ashworth MP House of Commons London SW1A 0AA Deda, 1 am writing to you in your position as Shadow Secretary of State for Health to seek your support for Charing Cross Hospital. 11 April 2017 Charing Cross Hospital ‘As you may be aware, the Chief Executive of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr Tracey Batten, and the Chief Officer of the Central London, West London, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow and Ealing (CWHHE) Clinical Commissioning Groups, Ms Clare Parker, have challenged Hammersmith & Fulham Council over inaccurate and misleading claims made about Charing Cross Hospital. The Leader of Hammersmith & Fulham Council recently sent a letter to all local residents, in which he made the claim that ‘NHS bosses have re-launched plans to close Charing Cross’ as. part of the North West London Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP). However, Dr Batten and Ms Parker have clarified that there have never been any plans to close Charing Cross Hospital, and that the STP makes a clear commitment that there will be no reduction in Charing Cross’s A&E department and wider services within the STP’s remit until April 2021. 1 gather that Dr Batten and Ms Parker have raised a formal complaint in the belief that the Leader of the Council's letter has breached the Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity, specifically around objectivity and even-handedness. I have included herewith a copy of Dr Batten and Ms Parker's letter for your reference. Accordingly, I am inviting you to support the NHS by disowning Hammersmith & Fulham ‘Council and its campaign, which is ‘likely to cause significant, unnecessary distress to patients and staff’. Hook forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Yours sincerely, The REon. Greg Hands MP Member of Parliament for Chelsea and Fulham handsg@parliament.uk 020 7219 5448 www.greghands.com
