Mission Trip to Northern
Territory
This year Hills will be organising a short
term mission trip to assist in Roger Latham’s
ministry at Palumpa Northern Territory.
Proposed dates for the trip will be during the
period 19/6 – 11/7/10 for a duration of 2
weeks. There is scope to work within men’s,
ladies and children’s ministry. Tasks include
work projects, music ministry, assisting with
devotions and mums and children’s outreach.
If God is convicting you to go and assist this
is a great opportunity to become involved
within the indigenous communities of
Northern Territory.
Cost for the trip will include airfares to
Darwin, approximately $550 (depending on
specials), and with land content costs
approximately $500 additional. If interested
please advise either John or Karen Williams Wadeye Palumpa Darwin

Prayer Points. Special Guest at Hills

•Please pray for all our missionary partners – for
God’s provision and for Holy Spirit guidance into their
lives
•Pray that the children’s homes in Bali and Lombok
continues to be a place where the children’s lives are
impacted with the knowledge of Jesus
•That Jesus becomes central to the children’s lives.
•Pray that these homes become a place where Gods
Word is spread throughout all the surrounding
communities.
•Pray that Roger and Vivienne are effective in
establishing Christ focused communities at Palumpa
and Wadeye that models Godly values and living to the
other NT communities
•Please pray that both Tim and John are led by the
Holy Spirit to serve and model Christ in the
communities they visit
•Also pray for their health and protection and for their
families at home
Rand Montgomery
On Sunday 2nd May Missions Sunday Hills will
have a special guest speaker Rand Montgomery as
part of our mission presentation.
Rand & Nikki Montgomery had been missionaries
in Pakistan for several years and are now serving
God in Thailand. Rand and Nikki are currently
regional coordinators for Missionary Ventures Asia.
They travel all around Asia inspiring and equipping
nationals to raise up new churches and become
involved within their own communities, especially
in Thailand, for Jesus. Local Pastors are always
encouraged by their visits.
We look forward to hearing Rand speak as he
shares a little bit about how the church is impacting
the people of Thailand and what we can do as a

What is a Church that is missional ?

The missional church is one where people are exploring and rediscovering what it means to be Jesus' sent
people as their identity and vocation.
The missional church knows that they must be a cross-cultural missionary (contextual) people and adopt a
missionary stance in relation to their community.
The missional church will be engaged with the culture (in the world) without being absorbed by the
culture (not of the world).
The missional church is evangelistic and faithfully proclaims the gospel through word and deed. Words
alone are not sufficient; how the gospel is embodied in our community and service is as important
as what we say.
The missional church understands the power of the gospel and does not lose confidence in it.
The missional church recognizes that it does not hold a place of honor in its host community and that its
missional imperative compels it to move out from itself into that host community as salt and light.
The missional church seeks to put the good of their neighbor over their own.
The missional church will give integrity, morality, good character and conduct, compassion, love and a
resurrection life filled with hope preeminence to give credence to their reasoned verbal witness.
The missional church will see themselves as representatives of Jesus and will do nothing to dishonor his
name.
The missional church will be totally reliant on God in all it does. It will move beyond superficial faith to a
life of supernatural living.
The missional church will be desperately dependent on prayer.
The missional church gathered will be for the purpose of worship, encouragement, supplemental teaching,
training, and to seek God's presence and to be realigned with God's missionary purpose.
The missional church is a healing community where people carry each other's burdens and help restore
gently.

What it is not

Not simply how many people come to our church services, but how many people our church serves.
Not simply how many people attend our ministry, but how many people have we equipped for ministry.
Not simply how many people minister inside the church, but how many minister outside the church.
Not simply helping people become more whole themselves, but helping people bring more wholeness to
their world. (i.e. justice, healing, relief)
Not simply how many ministries we start, but how many ministries we help.
Not simply how many unbelievers we bring into the community of faith, but how many ‘believers' we
help experience healthy community.
Not simply working through our past hurts, but working alongside the Spirit toward wholeness.
Not simply counting the resources that God gives us to steward, but counting how many good stewards
are we developing for the sake of the world.
